I’ve inherited some money and would like to buy a piece of jewellery.

Thinking about buying a watch. Budget around 2k but could go higher for the right thing.

I look after my stuff so will probably have what I buy for ages. I like Cartier tank watches but was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions?

(My current watch is a swatch and has been for a decade. Part of me thinks buying an expensive watch is a daft idea and I should just buy some diamond stud earrings instead).

I love the Cartier tank. That's what I'd buy. Rolex oyster datejust also classic.

Do you wear earrings everyday? If you do and are used to something larger, you might find diamond studs look like piddly bits of scrunched up tin foil.

If you like antique jewellery (more bang for your buck), I really recommend Hawk Antiques. Based in Naples, oddly. I had earrings from there for my 40th. Quality, service and price all awesome.

I always wear studs! Bigger earrings annoy me.

I spent just over 2k on a tag heur. I was reluctant at first because I'm not even really into watches, however, I now LOVE it. I am so glad I treated myself to it, it's one of my favourite possessions!

This is it. Looks nice with everything I wear

@opinionatedfreak
In which case you're doing exactly the right thing in investing in better versions of what you already like. It took me far too long to to learn that.

Cartier tank all the way for my money!

I bought a 'second hand' Cartier tank from a jewellers that was only around 6 months old - saved around £700 on the price - I'd always wanted one and I'm glad I splashed out as I wear it daily.
The only down side is that the batteries are very expensive compared to other watches I've owned.

I've got a Cartier tank, the small one and love it! Love the little blue detail and love wearing it.

Rolex datejust is also v v nice but I think they are a lot more than 2k sadly (for me!!)

Probably not what you asked, but if you are into sports (even a little) I would recommend a sports watch like polar. £300 and a lot of health benefits, and you can spend the rest on diamonds
