Are these products any good? Why the hype? Which do you recommend?

Depends... I'm not a huge fan of the eyeliner or the wonderglow cream (I can't remember exactly what it's called) but Pillow Talk is my favourite go to nude lipstick. The mascara was really nice too. It's on the same level as similar brands - Bobbi Brown, MAC etc. Really depends on preference imho. It's hard to separate quality from brand with makeup.

I like the eye pallets. I wasn't fussed on the foundation but lots of people love it.
I don't rate the skincare at all

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 08/07/2020 22:54

I got a few different things of hers as a treat a year or so ago.

Tbh I would not rave about any of it, and have pretty much moved on from the brand EXCEPT FOR

The Full Fat Lashes Mascara which is easily the best one I have EVER used.

chubbyhotchoc · 08/07/2020 23:02

Lipstick, eyeshadow and Hollywood glow thing. All unimpressive

Crystalspider · 08/07/2020 23:16

The lipsticks colours are vibrant and smell nice, I like the glosses and mascara, the bronzer/highlighter duo is also good. The only shade of lipstick I don't like is pillow talk which is a best seller but just doesn't suit me.

namechange30000 · 08/07/2020 23:31

Her foundation is crap but the genius magic powder is amazing.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 08/07/2020 23:43

I hated the Hollywood filter thing and gave it away, and thought the Chameleon eye crayons were complete rubbish. I have a few lipsticks and they are okay, but I don’t reach for them often.

Personally I think as a brand they spent a lot on marketing, less on the actual products. I had to unsubscribe from emails because of the gushy “darling” stuff which I absolutely hated.

What was the famous product she became known for and everyone seemed to be buying and claiming it was great??

What's pillow talk like? What colour?

This is pillow talk, the original formula
There is also a medium and dark version.
Pinky/brown

peachypetite · 09/07/2020 18:59

Mainly hyped and very overpriced. Give me Bobbi brown any day.

Magic Cream

I'm scared to splash out on it because every review is like either :

THIS IS AMAZING BEST THING I HAVE EVER BOUGHT.

Or

THIS IS TOTAL SHIT AND AN UTTER WASTE OF MONEY

Marmite Product

Bananaman123 · 09/07/2020 19:15

I gave into hype (cousin makeup artist loves CT). Ordered pillow talk quad, lip set and foundation. Very underwhelmed

I have fair skin and did lots of checking on shade but the one i got was too orange, awful so never used
Eye quad, meh it is ok i suppose but hate the glittery shade, i have better quality cheaper items
Pillowtalk lip, again underwhelemd, colour is ok but not as nice as MAC

jay55 · 09/07/2020 19:33

I like magic cream and her sheet masks. The lipsticks are good too.
Concealer was pants for me.

RiverCrossing · 10/07/2020 05:09

The lipsticks and creme eyeshadows are fab. Eyeshadow and eyeliner not so much.

Anordinarymum · 10/07/2020 05:13

It's overpriced

BostonFernGreen · 10/07/2020 06:20

Agree with pp who mentioned they seem to spend a lot on marketing but the actual products are underwhelming.

I've tried a few as I was seduced by good reviews and influencers etc.

The lipstick formula is ok but nowhere near as good as MAC. Eyeshadows are in nice colours but they're not that good to work with IMO. Prefer MAC or even Morphe.

The foundations are probably better for people who like full coverage and have a lot of time to spend. I've had samples and not been able to create a look I would leave the house in.

I think the skincare is overpriced for the ingredients but it was ages ago I properly looked into it so i can't remember details

Mightymurphy · 10/07/2020 06:54

I wear her lighter version of her foundation and have done for a couple of years. I like it. I also like wonderglow. Everything else is a bit meh.

ooooohbetty · 10/07/2020 06:57

Brilliant marketing. Beautifully packaged products. Foundation has great shades and lasts for ages but wasn't good on my skin.
