Really slow refunds for online returns

Sorry, I think there may have been another thread about this... but I am getting slightly concerned about the lack of refunds for things I have returned.

It was mainly stuff we had ordered for teen dd and I had returned two separate packages to Urban Outfitters and got refunds after only a few days. But everything else - H&M, &Other Stories, Lululemon - I have heard anything - not even an acknowledgement of receipt of the items... it’s been 2 or 3 weeks.

Anyone else had this problem?

Like others have said I've used Klarna before for Dorothy Perkins and new look and oddly the refund comes through quite quick like 10 days or so and that was during lockdown.
I think I tried Klarna with H &M and it wouldn't go through so I just used my card.

I'll keep an eye out I have the return receipt.

Squiz81 · 16/07/2020 12:19

I placed an order with Topshop and Mountain Warehouse right at the start of the month and neither company have even shipped them yet, although obviously collected my money immediately 🙄😬

I had an ASOS return within days. Office have taken a week and I’m still to hear from Arket.

I’m keeping records of what I’m waiting for and outstanding refunds, but it’s putting me off online shopping that’s for sure!

I've had acknowledgement from shein that my return is being processed but I expected that to take a while but nothing from H&M yet . The customer service is pretty rubbish no way of email or anything to contact just on social media . I've sent a message through Instagram I don't use Twitter so see how quickly they get back to me .

Blondiney · 18/07/2020 19:56

My John Lewis returns took 12 days. ASOS were less than a week.

AnneOfCleavage · 18/07/2020 20:30

islockdownoveryet when did you send your Shein return parcel back? It's been a month for us now and nothing has been acknowledged and no answer to any email.

islockdownoveryet · 18/07/2020 21:03

I sent shein order back on the 2nd July , I've not got the money back yet just confirmation that they have it .

AnneOfCleavage · 18/07/2020 22:19

Oh no, sent ours back mid June but no communication at all. Feeling nervous now esp as they've not replied to message. Couldn't email them directly as kept getting a message saying our server was down so can't send which was not true. Think DH sent message on twitter or fb in the end. We purposely chose the PO return with their postage (they take it out your account) so proper address and postage that they gave us to print off.
I paid using Klarna and they've taken two payments already so just one more to go 1st week of next month.

islockdownoveryet · 19/07/2020 13:12

I got a reply back on Instagram they requested the tracking ref which I kept . So I've sent that so hopefully will get somewhere .
It was only about £10 top , it's put me off using H&M online .

islockdownoveryet · 19/07/2020 13:13

Can you message them on social media @AnneOfCleavage ? It didn't take long for them to reply when I did .

islockdownoveryet · 19/07/2020 13:15

Oh sorry it was shein for you . Have you clicked on return on your shein account with the tracking number .
I did that and the next day I got a email to say received return so not sure if that was a coincidence or not .

Inkpaperstars · 19/07/2020 13:36

I have been finding this too. I can understand they probably have fewer staff in at any one time, probably quarantine parcels before opening and are just generally coping with extra procedures and a new way of working. They probably also have many more online orders that usual since the shops have been closed. But still, it is worrying and a bit excessive in some cases.

One thing I am going to do from now on is put all the orders on a credit card as protection in case companies go under.

AnneOfCleavage · 19/07/2020 21:40

Islockdownoveryet which social media platform did you use? My DH sent a message via Facebook messenger (a week ago) but maybe that's not public enough. So fed up. Poor DD too as it's was her card she used as had birthday money to spend.

temproasted · 19/07/2020 21:54

I waiting for Gap and Lululemon. I think they were both returned with UPS and it's taken longer than any other shop so far.

islockdownoveryet · 20/07/2020 07:00

I used Instagram private message , came back quite quickly .
I said to my dh Seams like they are slow on purpose to do refunds , cash flow reasons .
Chase it up again.
H&M said that they have received my return and it will be refunded in 3-5 days .
My shein refund in my bank account today .

LoeliaPonsonby · 20/07/2020 07:16

COS also being v. slow, so I think I need to chase them. Another one that uses credit cards only just in case...

HelpMeh · 20/07/2020 07:19

ASOS have had my return for a week and still haven't acknowledged it. I'm overseas and only use ASOS for online shopping but deliveries are taking an absolute age with Aramex (courier) at the moment. My incoming package departed the UK on the 15th and there's been no update since 😩. I need my trainers!

WhentheDealGoesDown · 20/07/2020 07:25

@MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously

Am also finding John Lewis slow. Returned item to Waitrose and still haven't had a confirmation email so have no proof that I actually returned it.
I have bought a lot from JL in the recent sale and returned a few things via Waitrose and my confirmation of return email was almost immediate and my refund received within about a week. Hope you have heard something by now
MrsNoah2020 · 20/07/2020 08:45

Baukjen are terrible for this. Always check carefully that they have refunded you and that, if they have, it's for the right amount. I have had a series of 'mistakes' from them. Oddly enough, the mistakes always seem to work in their favour Hmm

AnneOfCleavage · 20/07/2020 09:57

Thank you Islockdownoveryet I have messaged Shein.com andShein.co.uk on private Instagram and hope we have as good an experience as you. Couldn't find an account number so just have our name and address - will that be enough for them to go on? Where can I find the account number? DD did her order on her phone and can't see one. Thanks you for your help. Much appreciated.

twobambinos · 20/07/2020 10:04

Lululemon here too. Didn't return with ups but taking an age. No acknowledgement or anything.

Ted Baker was also slow to process refund after they acknowledged its return I thought it was all part of the one process. But at least I knew they had received it.

islockdownoveryet · 20/07/2020 20:14

Hopefully you'll be ok @AnneOfCleavage they should come back and request more info if needed.

Countmeout · 21/07/2020 08:04

Uniqlo have just taken forever for two tops I returned. I had to chase them in the end. I didn’t know if it was them or the Hermes parcel shop I used , never usually return by this method. Only just in my account this morning taking the guts of 5 weeks.
H and M were very slow early in lockdown and had to be chased up again although a more recent parcel was ok. I also generally try to use a credit card.

AnneOfCleavage · 21/07/2020 16:30

Nothing so far Islockdownoveryet 😠 Was feeling so hopeful so it's disappointing that they haven't even acknowledged my messages after your good experience.

Blackcurrant66 · 21/07/2020 17:08

This is doing my nut in at the moment. Vowed to only buy things online that can be returned to store from now on.

Ifonlyiweretaller · 21/07/2020 23:25

I've finally had confirmation from Lulu Lemon that the parcel they received back on 1 July has finally been processed, and to allow us to 2 weeks for a refund. So approximately 5 weeks wait 😮 I will certainly not be shopping with them again...
