Are you going to buy some clothes now lockdown is easing?

I haven’t bought anything for myself during lockdown (Did for dc as they had grown and needed summer clothes.)

I have plenty of things that I would normally wear in the summer that I haven’t worn due to lockdown and obviously barely going anywhere. I love clothes and fashion but there doesn’t seem a great deal of point until life gets back to some kind of normal.

I’ve been browsing online and nothing is grabbing me particularly anyway.

Did you buy anything in lockdown and are you going to buy anything for the rest of the summer?

Brought a couple of nice bags some earrings and a purse but nothing clothes wise really apart from a couple of pairs of lounge bottoms but before the lock down really started... Not finding much I really want to buy at the moment have been saving my clothes budget up might end up buying some nice autumn stuff instead.

After months of desolation and lack of interest I just fell in love with a coat and found it on another site in the sales. So I've ordered, mainly just to see what it's like - but if I keep it, it will give a little hope for the future.

Last year's summer clothes will do. I may cut off a pair of jeans if I really need to ...

Thisismynewname123 · 06/07/2020 18:41

I'm trying to hold off. I've saved so much money by not spending during lockdown, so I don't want fall back into the habit of spending on unnecessary bits here and there when I'm really not doing much anyway. I'll make do through thos summer, and hopefully through the autumn as well if my willpower can hold!

Ardnassa · 06/07/2020 18:50

Beautiful clothes are my thing. I usually spend a fair bit on a few quality items each month. And I still browse a little every day when bored but... I simply cannot bring myself to do the deed.

Partly it is seeing my savings rocket. Partly it is an irrational urge to save more just in case. Even though I have 6 months' salary worth of savings, am moving to a new higher paid job in a few weeks' time, have a part time non exec role where am just saving the monthly salary and... still. I just cannot do it.

I repeatedly say "Paradox of Thrift" to myself on a daily basis but still not working.

I have lost my shopping mojo :(

LeJollieJauneOiseau · 06/07/2020 19:00

I've already bought two new pairs of leather sandals and a pair of vejas, five new dresses, a couple of pairs of trousers and three blouses Blush and I have my eye on another couple of dresses.

However I tend to buy pieces that can move through the seasons with other bits added rather than specifically for a particular season and I tend to get stuff that can work for at home or work.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/07/2020 19:14

I’ve bought a few things online during lockdown but have no real urge to go to the actual shops. The weather is cold here, like 14 degrees today, so it seems daft to buy summer things - I am going to hang on for autumn stuff. If I am going to be working from home I will need more cosy jumpers!

shinynewapple2020 · 06/07/2020 23:04

I've bought another pair of joggers, some walking trousers and I'll be buying some new trainers and walking sandals. In other words things I actually need and fit my current lifestyle . I have considered quite a few dresses / tops that would be nice for work or going out but given I'll be working from home for the foreseeable future I've decided to hold back for a bit.

WisestIsShe · 06/07/2020 23:06

I'll have to, all of mine seem to have shrunk Wink

Mmmmycorona · 06/07/2020 23:07

No, I’m pregnant so don’t feel like it as it would all have to be maternity/bigger sizes. I’m also one of the industries where I’m still not allowed back to work so I don’t have much money to spend on clothes.

hammeringinmyhead · 06/07/2020 23:15

I bought a couple of pairs of "dressier" (can leave the house in them) joggers from Uniqlo, to go with sandals and vest tops. 2 plain shirts. A couple of casual stripy tops. That's it! Or at least it was until I was invited to a job interview this week, so I got an emerald green sleeveless blouse from Tu to go with my Gap trousers and Aquascutum blazer.

It's really hard to give a crap what you look like, isn't it? I was doing my one walk a day with the buggy in joggers, a t shirt and just a croptop under - no proper bra!

I normally absolutely love autumn winter shopping but if we're all in and out of lockdown I have enough hoodies and leggings...

PerfidiousAlbion · 06/07/2020 23:17

I bought a pair of £96 joggers from HUSH so that’s me done for the year.

I’d buy more if there were any nice clothes in the shops but there’s nothing, bar black floral dresses and nighties masquerading as dresses.

Holothane · 06/07/2020 23:22

New pjs for me but they can wait.

AhBallix · 07/07/2020 00:45

I won't be buying any new clothes until I lose my lockdown lard. Stretchy joggers are keeping me in denial at the moment.

Cecilia2016 · 07/07/2020 00:55

I have bought quite a lot of clothes during the lockdown online but I won’t be going into the shops or in town much because my favourite place where I was buying everything is closed and that was Debenhams. I was addicted to warehouse, Dorothy Perkins and oasis but it’s all closed.

Notcontent · 07/07/2020 10:33

It doesn’t feel like there is any point... I have been enjoying shopping vicariously through my teen DD’s online purchases - she has enjoying having more opportunities to wear normal clothes rather than school uniform.

In the last week I have ordered some jeans and sweatshirt for myself - that reflects my current clothing needs! I just realised yesterday that since the start of lockdown all I have worn is a handful of items - jeans, T-shirts, yoga pants. I once wore a nice jumpsuit type thing when we went to a park. Have not worn any of my dresses or nice sandals.

Alarae · 07/07/2020 10:58

I'll be ripped for this, but I ended up buying a couple of pairs of leggings and long t shirts from Primark. I am on maternity leave and quite frankly still in a mindset where I don't give a toss what I wear as long as I'm comfy, so no point looking for quality pieces.

Did also get a Stitch (Lilo and Stitch) t shirt which did make me quite happy though!

IDKNABYBIF22 · 07/07/2020 10:58

I've bought a couple of basic t -shirts and paper bag trousers from H&M, just so I felt dressed in 'day clothes' but still comfortable.

I've just ordered myself a coach handbag in the sale, £325 reduced to £130. Never spent so much on one thing but I'm justifying it by telling myself that I'll use it everyday and the three haircuts that I've missed have pretty much covered it!

user1497787065 · 07/07/2020 11:02

I've bought nothing. I am furloughed for the foreseeable future. Think if I don't return to work during summer at least half my wardrobe will not be worn. I'm living in cleaning, gardening and dog walking clothes. I am not tempted to go to a pub or out to dinner and don't need new clothes for my weekly trip to Tesco.

mrsrhodgilbert · 07/07/2020 13:35

I’ve bought a few items from the Cos sale, it’s the only shop I’m really missing. I also bought some boots from Russell and Bromley. I shop carefully and keep things for years.

StCharlotte · 07/07/2020 15:55

I've been working from home and am back to the office next week. Thank GOD! I've practically bought a whole new wardrobe online during lockdown Blush But once I'm no longer at home for deliveries and as there are no decent shops in our town, I'll put a stop to it. Very pleased with everything I've bought though.

lockdownalli · 07/07/2020 17:00

I don't think I will be back in clothes shops for a while to be honest.

I had a bit of a style crisis during lockdown after going through everything in my wardrobe, and, following a recommendation on another thread, signed up for a Stitch Fix box. You give them reams of info about what you do and don't want/prices etc and sit there and pray that their stylist understand you.

Mine absolutely did and I kept all 5 pieces, netting myself a 20% discount. I won't get another one now until autumn though as I feel I have enough clothes to see me through this summer. Here's a £15 off link if anyone fancies it www.stitchfix.co.uk/invite/ffztmxfkwh?sod=w&som=c

I have an autumn birthday so that's my excuse to treat myself with another big box of goodies Grin I love summer but autumn clothes usually have lovely fabrics don't they?

Pipandmum · 07/07/2020 17:03

Yes I have. Other than the first few weeks only going out for food and dog walks now out most days so bought the usual things: couple parts sandals etc. Buy most stuff online anyway.
