Can you stretch jeans waistband?

I have found a pair of jeans that I love from Topshop:

www.topshop.com/en/tsuk/product/jeans-6877054/pink-acid-mom-tapered-jeans-9590941

Unfortunately the size I ordered (W30L32) is a bit snug around the waist. So, I ordered the next size up which fits better on the waist, but is way too big everywhere else and just doesn't look good. I have a bit of a tummy, always have but particularly after two babies! I am now tempted to keep the smaller size in the hope I may be able to stretch the waistband a bit... has anyone done this successfully? I don't want to waste money on them. But it's the first time in a while I've felt 'cool' in something so reluctant to let them go.. May just need to start my jeans search from scratch Sad.

I’d prefer several more pairs in the smaller size. The cut varies very slightly from pair to pair with highstreet jeans - chances are there will be a pair that fit a bit better.

Prefer = probably orderConfused

Thank you, good idea. I ordered the bigger size from Asos rather than Topshop actually, don't know whether that would make a difference! I have a pair of Jamie jeans in the larger size that fit well. The smaller size is ok when I'm standing up but as soon as I sit down it's clear they are too small!

Ah. Maybe multiple pairs of both sizes then? ASOS or actual TopShop makes no matter

well, you can cut the button hole a bit wider, to allow a few more cm's of room, but other than wearing them and stretching them, I'm not sure.
some jeans are prone to stretching and others aren't.
I don't find toyshop jeans have much room for 'give' to be honest.

sometimes if something pulls at my hips and I can't size up, I will stretch the fabric myself, just by pulling. this isn't a good idea if the fabric is delicate.

toyshop! now those would be small jeans!

DaffodilThatch · 05/07/2020 17:50

Ha! Yes pretty sure I wouldn't fit in any toy clothes Grin

I think I'm now resigned that the smaller ones are unlikely to fit so might buy a few in the bigger size and see. I've seen a pair from Mango I might try too. Argh so annoyed. DH thinks I should keep the smaller ones as I might lose a bit more baby weight, but I'm feeling very doubtful about that, my lockdown diet has not been great!

You could buy a button extender.
