I've come across these tonight and I'm not sure if I love them or am getting nostalgic for the fifth form lounge circa 1996 Grin

Anyone here partaking in this fashion resurgence? When I've searched they seem to be popular but I'm still undecided if it's a look I can pull off (or even want to!)

No doubt they'll be back but we're not there yet. How fashion forward are you? Will you look you're ahead of the curve or you're still stuck in the past and do you are? It would not be an easy look to pull off.

fannyanney · 03/07/2020 23:30

I had similar to those in 2000 and LOVED them!

Ginkypig · 03/07/2020 23:44

I have an actual pair of block heels from the 90's that Iv worn twice last year after finding them after at least 17 years abandoned at the back of my wardrobe.

They are chunky and because the heel is wide they are comfy! Heels are never comfy!

This is key, will you look like you haven't changed your style for 20 years?

I had a pair like this, can't go back there 🙄

Quackersandcheese3 · 04/07/2020 00:05

I really like them .

floppybit · 04/07/2020 00:20

I love them! I want a pair! Don't like the office ones though as they have a flared heel.

My0My · 04/07/2020 00:35

It’s easy to find updated boots based on a lace up style. They are very much in fashion. Lots of people wearing them! DD has just got a pair. It really depends on your knowledge of trends and younger people don’t remember 20 years ago. Everything seems fresh and youthful now. These are Alexander McQueen with the buttons and Louboutin with the laces.

No, these really aren't what I'm after. But thank you.

My0My · 04/07/2020 00:40

? What were you after then? These were only an illustration of modern lace up ankle boots. Is there another type?

excelledyourself · 04/07/2020 00:48

A much rounder style with block heels. I have looked. I just can't see any as nice as the ones I imagine or had years ago. I'm very picky.

SlightyJaded · 04/07/2020 00:50

Of course there is 'another type' - there are hundreds of 'other types'.
My0My · 04/07/2020 00:56

Except no one can find them? Where are all the round toe block heeled lace up ankle boots when you need them?

My0My · 04/07/2020 01:00

Try Bertie, Clark’s and Boohoo.

I had a pair of Patrick Cox healed loafers in the 90's. I loved them. Not sure I would wear them now though.

ShaunaTheSheep · 04/07/2020 07:06

@My0My

Try Bertie, Clark’s and Boohoo.
DD got two pairs from Boohoo before lockdown- a navy velvet pair for prom (might still happen) and a suede pair for 6th form.
glasshalfsomething · 04/07/2020 07:13

@excelledyourself - those Kickers bottom left! Had them for starting high school, 27 years ago! Not sure I could spend £85 on a nostalgia trip, but I sure am tempted! I cannot remember if they were comfortable?

caribooshriek · 04/07/2020 07:16

Ugh!🤢

DidoLamenting · 04/07/2020 07:19

No they were hideous then and are hideous now.

excelledyourself · 04/07/2020 11:33

Thanks @QueenCT I saw those. They are very nearly right, but I would like slightly higher. I might give them a try though. Do the black ones have the fleece inside? I wont want lthat for wearing with tights and dresses.

lockdownalli · 04/07/2020 11:34

I have a very similar pair with a tassel Blush I got them from M&S I think (wide feet)

I wore them for a job interview with a black cotton trouser suit with 7/8 leg length and even fashion graduate DD agreed they looked good.

Go for it.

Disclaimer: I also wear T bar "school shoes"

excelledyourself · 04/07/2020 11:35

@glasshalfsomething I think mine mere comfy. But I had a different style. Although I actually preferred that type. Either couldn't get them or my friends had them, so bad to go for something different. Not sure.

QueenCT · 04/07/2020 11:38

@excelledyourself I have the brown and they have a lining but not all the way. It's not visible if that makes sense with tights
