Trendy (ish - I'm old) trainers for really wide feet

Not Sketchers!!

I wear eee fit shoes and struggle with mice trainers. Obviously I can't try on at the minute - can anyone recomend wide fit trainers please?

Not exactly trainers but I have very wide feet and wear Converse.

Bridecilla · 03/07/2020 19:14

@lockdownalli I tried converse as I wanted some for my upcoming wedding but the half moon bit at the end nipped my toes

I buy men's trainers as they are usually wider

mbb1 · 03/07/2020 19:58

I just got some lovely John Lewis trainers (Felicity). They're in the sale at the moment. Great quality, leather, and really wide. Also, I don't feel I'm copying my teenage DD.

evilharpy · 03/07/2020 20:20

What sort of trainers? Sporty looking, trendier white leather etc?

BurtsBeesKnees · 03/07/2020 20:25

I've just got some ECHO trainers and they are lovely and comfy. I've got wide feet, maybe not eee, but wider than average

MrDarcysMa · 03/07/2020 21:48

I’ve got some Stan smiths in wide fit.
Air and grace are wide fitting too.

Amyheadache · 03/07/2020 22:59

Converse are notoriously very narrow? I have wide and also very flat feet with virtually no arch. I wear new balance 520s and 373s because they also have the sort of cut out Achilles area they are ridiculously comfortable and have some really cool colour ways
I pick up cheap pairs from eBay ASOS and their own site in the sale

Sparkesy · 03/07/2020 23:03

I agree converse are notoriously narrow, I don't have particularly wide feet and they nip my toes too.
M&S have some surprisingly nice white leather trainers that also come in a wide fit, and I've found leather diesel trainers to be on the wider comfier side.

morelikeaclubsandwich · 03/07/2020 23:18

I got a pair of these carvela trainers in tkmaxx and find them annoyingly wide. John Lewis also stock carvela jargon trainers

Camper Peu range. All day. Every day. I have these and the same model as high tops.

MyNameForToday1980 · 03/07/2020 23:23

Actually, tell a lie, I have those, but in leather rather than fabric.

lilyfire · 03/07/2020 23:24

My Stan Smiths are so comfortable and I have wide feet.

GrimDamnFanjo · 04/07/2020 01:50

Men's trainers - new balance 574 and Nike AF1.

Rebeccasmoonnecklace · 04/07/2020 02:19

Skechers do a variety of styles and are comfortable, tend to be wider too.

Beetlewing · 04/07/2020 07:56

Have a look at barefoot brands like the ones on happylittlesoles.co.uk barefoot shoes are usually lovely and roomy

Aramox · 04/07/2020 08:12

Ecco

Bridecilla · 04/07/2020 12:13

Thanks everyone - I'll check out all the recommendations (except the Sketchers one! ;) )

I have lymphedema and my feet swell. These are my battered Nikes whixh sometimes fit and sometimes don't (like today) depending on the swelling

I'm only a size 5 so men's might not be an option!

I think River Island do wide fit options in their trainers & so do M&S, ok they're high street not label trainers but still look nice.

Batfinklestein · 04/07/2020 12:31

Saucony Jazz could work. They are also soft and light so should be comfy. And they do then in a range of cool colours.

As an aside, have you tried elastic laces in your trainers? That might help them fit on different swollen and not so swollen days.
I changed a couple of pairs of trainers laces to elastic ones as (pre Covid!) I went to the gym a lot so it was helpful to be able to slip them on and off easily. And I prefer the neater look.

They don’t have the exact ones I bought on eBay, but these are similar. I reckon
a pair of these in some Saucony Jazz could work:

Adidas swift run are surprisingly wide, v comfortable and come in some nice colour combinations. Mine are black and gold and people often comment on them. Theyre also super light which is probably good if you actually want to run swiftly in them. I don't.

I’ve not used this website but they have a few colours at decent prices in a size 5.

Forgot to say, you’ll find a lot of reviews online about these trainers being good for wide feet, which is how I found them.

Goyle · 04/07/2020 12:42

JD Williams?

EwwSprouts · 04/07/2020 12:43

I have these in metallic gold. They look 100 times better on than in the picture. I didn't buy them online & went up a size as my feet also swell.

Converse are really narrow!
I'm finding adidas gazelles really good. Fit over my hereditary bunion.
