Curly girl and highlights

I've just discovered that my straight, albeit frizzy, hair is actually wavy (I think a 2b). I've done one CG wash, (badly!) and I love the way it looks, even at this stage. I don't know if I've always had wavy hair, or if it's changed over the past few years as silvers have crept in, or after kids/peri-m. Anyway, regardless, I love it and want to embrace it. Question is - I have a much-needed cut next week, and was going to get my highlights re-done (full head). Will this ruin any wave? Usually my hair is super soft and fly away (which I hate) immediately after having highlights, but I don't know if that's the treatment they use or the colouring. Is there anything I need to be aware of? Anything I need to tell the stylist to hold back on?

I am curly and follow the cgm. I have my hair lightened with bleach (balayage rather than highlights, not that it matters) and the cg mob would kill me for saying this, but I find my hair is slightly curlier with bleach. I don't know if the bleach dries my hair a bit and encourages curl - I just know that the curl is better.

Having said that, I don't actually think my hair is in bad condition - I always get them to use olaplex as past of the treatment and the condition of my hair is good. I go to a small salon and they let me take my own products and I ask them to rinse the colour out with my conditioner and a good scrub and they are happy to do so. Not every salon will be so obliging but it's worth a shot.

Don't stress about it.
I'm a total convert to curly girl - and use pure aloe gera gel which works brilliantly. Got highlights which I had for years no issue.

Love cg! Feels like at age 39 I've finally figured out what to do with my hair - ie v little !

I do find its working even better now it's longer.
During lockdown I've been using an eco version of sun in - and much as I value my hairdresser as both professional and friebd, I don't think it' looks much different - and £70 cheaper...

Probably but it goes back , my curly hair doesn't like all the shampoo the hairdressers use as it makes it too soft and frizzy . Takes a few days to recover though.

Yep, same here with the shampoo. I think taking my own stuff will be an issue with current hygiene protocols though. I guess I'll have to just accept that it'll be back to straight, soft and fly away for a few days. I might decide to ditch the highlights after this next appointment - I had the highlights to liven up my mousey, straight hair! Maybe the waves will inspire me to try a different colour, or stay natural. I'm so unbelievably excited by this. I've wanted curly hair for years, was always jealous of friends with curls - turns out I might have been a curly girl all along! Grin
