Supportive slippers???

FusionChefGeoff · 01/07/2020 17:20

After a seemingly endless stream of injuries I decided that my shitty slippers can't be helping as I now wear them pretty much constantly and my beleaguered feet / knees / ankles don't get any support.

I've been wearing my trainers round the house since my last Achilles injury but it's not ideal so anyone recommend any 'proper' slippers that will give me some support?? For the same support reason I don't really like mules and prefer them with a back.

The initial 'support slippers' google revealed lots of Nan slippers and I'm not quite that desperate yet!!

This thread is quite old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for supportive slippers that offer comfort, we’ve recently updated our best women’s slippers page with plenty of high-quality options, as worn and loved by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

FitFlop slippers are amazing and lots in the sale right now www.fitflop.com/uk/en/shop/womens-slippers-uk

I 2nd the fitflop slippers. I don't however recommend the pale pink suede ones. They are total dirt magnets.

Nan slippers all the way! I did this a while ago and it really helped - hope the injury heals soon.

Crocs - when I had plantar fascitis they were what I had to wear round the house to get some pain relief. They do ones with fluffy linings. Not attractive agreed - but good support.

I wear Skechers Bobs slippers in the winter. They're very supportive.

Allbirds wool loungers are great, soooooo comfortable.

I'm book marking this thread as I'm suffering with bad pain in my right heel/Achilles. What is the sizing like in the FitFlop slippers? I'm usually a 7.5 or an 8 UK size.

PenOrPencil · 01/07/2020 20:34

Birkenstocks

Bluebird1234 · 02/07/2020 06:38

Haflinger very comfortable

EasilyDelighted · 02/07/2020 07:15

Birkenstock sandals for summer and moshulu slipper boots with orthotic inserts for winter. I can't wear Crocs for any length of time, they set off my plantar fasciitis again, too soft.

thesunwillout · 02/07/2020 07:16

Agree with crocs that have fluffy liners, I have plantar fascitis and they've been brilliant.

Another wearer of orthotics in Moshulu boot slippers- feel childishly pleased that someone else does this- it’s brilliant! Scholl Bioprint sandals work better for me than Birkenstock’s though.

I second these. Really comfy, with support, and they go in the wash.
Feedingthebirds1 · 02/07/2020 14:58

Seconding Vionic. Spendy but worth it.

DiscontentedWoman · 02/07/2020 15:04

Pink sparkly fitflop slippers here - I love them and they are surprisingly warm.

Howhighsthewaterpa6 · 02/07/2020 15:10

Have a look at Giesswein Austrian slippers they do different kinds for different foot problems, with footbeds that can be removed

OneMillionSteps · 02/07/2020 19:27

Nordika’s are good

FusionChefGeoff · 10/07/2020 20:57

So far so good with the FitFlop mocassins! Definitely nice and supportive and fit well.
