Recommend me some decent slippers

I seem to get through slippers very quickly but admittedly I often don't spend much on them and I do wear whenever I'm in the house. My current pair were brown suede sheepskin mules which I liked (albeit from Sainsbury's so neither actually suede nor sheepskin). These have lasted no time at all and are now cracked through the soles and most crucially, have gone the way all slippers seem to in a few weeks for me and are a bit baggy, risking tripping on the stairs. My feet are slim (but not freakishly so) and size 5.
Nothing with a back on or toes out and not too Granny please I'm early 40's; otherwise all suggestions welcome. Happy to consider expensive ones if genuinely great but so far I've found the ones I've paid more for have been no better than cheap ones; hopefully this isn't always the case!

This thread is quite old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for warm, cosy slippers that stand the test of time, we’ve recently updated our best women’s slippers page with lots of great options, as worn and loved by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

My slippers are Classic Croc Clogs, the proper branded ones; not fake/cheap version. 11 years I've been wearing them! Best value for money ever. Nice and roomy so can be worn sockless or with fluffy socks.

I bought DH a pair of ugg slippers for Christmas... we fight over who wears them as they’re so comfy that I keep stealing them

Have bought some Ugg Pearle's from the outlet, preferred something I could try on though will definitely consider Bedroom Athletics or Moshulu if I'm not a lifetime convert to Ugg! Seem a good fit- narrow which is what I needed. No pale fluff trim on the outside to get grubby, lovely quality.

Since I don't see anyone else recommending them..

My hubby bought me Tommy & Tou slippers for Xmas (in a lovely plum colour)

They are fab. Really comfy but hard sole. Lovely soft inside...

I think he might have even bought them cheaper on amazon... It's worth a look

Celtic sheepskin. Mine have lasted me years and years and they're really warm and soft.

Strictly speaking not slippers but I've fallen in love with Toms shoes recently and it's the only thing I'll wear on my feet in the house, in summer anyway

Winter time it's the furry slipper boot all the way

I need a new pair of slippers too and also want an open backed pair with a hard sole. I usually get some faux sheepskin ones from sainsburys or the like but they don't last very long. I had a good pair from amazon for about £18 which are just about to fall apart so looking for a new pair. I should say that I've had them for ages but they've never been smelly.

Not long ago I bought a pair from uniqlo which I thought were perfect as a summer sandal as they were cotton rather than furry inside and had a memory foam sole.

The problem is that they started to smell bad really quickly and I don't even have smelly feet. I've washed them and they are fine for a day but I feel they start to get smelly again quickly and I don't know why. I don't seem to have this with other slippers so am now wondering if a certain type of slippers can go smelly? Ie could it be the memory foam? I switched back to my normal slippers and haven't had a problem so it doesn't seem to be my feet!

Just wondered about this as I like the look of some of the slippers above and just wanted to check before I buy any more.

Thanks!

I have been wearing my bedroom athletics booties for over 10 years now (!) and I wish I could get a replacement but they don't seem to make them with leather soles any more which puts me off. The leather soles on my old manky ones are so good, soft and flexible but hard wearing.
Does any where sell warm boot-style slippers with leather soles any more?
Sorry for attempted thread hijack Grin
