Recommend me some decent slippers

I seem to get through slippers very quickly but admittedly I often don't spend much on them and I do wear whenever I'm in the house. My current pair were brown suede sheepskin mules which I liked (albeit from Sainsbury's so neither actually suede nor sheepskin). These have lasted no time at all and are now cracked through the soles and most crucially, have gone the way all slippers seem to in a few weeks for me and are a bit baggy, risking tripping on the stairs. My feet are slim (but not freakishly so) and size 5.
Nothing with a back on or toes out and not too Granny please I'm early 40's; otherwise all suggestions welcome. Happy to consider expensive ones if genuinely great but so far I've found the ones I've paid more for have been no better than cheap ones; hopefully this isn't always the case!

This thread is quite old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for warm, cosy slippers that stand the test of time, we’ve recently updated our best women’s slippers page with lots of great options, as worn and loved by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

Moshulu fan here too

Tinkletwat · 02/07/2020 16:19

Bedroom Athletics Harris Tweed ones. I wfh so wear them a lot and they last really well. They often have reductions.

EugenesAxe · 02/07/2020 16:20

I bought Haflinger slippers from Amazon.

They are hard soled and great. Be careful on the sizing and check the EU/UK conversion chart.

They are a bit like Uggs but cheaper and less fluffy. I really liked my slip on wool ones from Sea Salt but when I looked I either didn’t like the colours or couldn’t find them. But if they start doing them again, they are lovely.

MooseBeTimeForSummer · 02/07/2020 16:22

Glerups - The Slipper. Best slipper ever!

Literallynoidea · 02/07/2020 16:22

Uggs are amazing. They last for years and years and are so comfortable.

I love mine.

MooseBeTimeForSummer · 02/07/2020 16:25

If you don’t like an open back they do a shoe and a boot version too.

EugenesAxe · 02/07/2020 16:26

Ah yeah that’s it. I ordered size 8 and they ended up being an EU42 - I should have ordered a 7.5UK for my usual 41 EU.

I didn’t say but the Haflingers are like slip on, woollen, closed-toe Birks.

Saying that, I do like Moshulu shoes generally so reckon you couldn’t go wrong with some of those! They often have discounts and offers.

emma6776 · 02/07/2020 20:09

Celtic and Co. I have the sheepskin boot ones and even take them on holidays with me! Mine are 5 years old and I’ve just braved putting them on a wool wash for the first time (worked fine). They are amazing and don’t do the weird sloping heel thing that other ugg type slippers do.

goldpendant · 02/07/2020 20:11

Ugg, I don't like their outdoor boots but I've had my scuffs for 8 years!! They are well worn but as cosy as ever and look good for so much wear!

SallyOMalley · 02/07/2020 20:15

Another vote for Haflinger! I like the felt slippers with a soft sole. They usually last me about 2 years which is amazing given that I am pointed of toe and heavy of foot! The style I buy is called Smiley and you can get haflinger slippers on British site called Shoegarden (and Amazon too).

slinkysaluki · 03/07/2020 17:56

I have Next fake sheepskin slippers, really comfy and authentic looking

I’ve had mahabis for 7 years and they’re as good as new so worth the money.
I think the design is different now - The detachable outdoor sole has changed.
My mum laughed at the price of them but she gets through 2 pairs a year from Asda which end up in the bin!
I suspect Ugg’s etc are similar quality x

HappyCria · 05/07/2020 18:54

I love my sheepers slippers

Disclaimer: I hate uggs & think the outdoor versions are hideous but I have these in grey. They were a gift for Christmas a couple of years ago & they're still almost like new. They're quite a slim fit but are perfect for me as I have narrow feet & most slippers drown my feet.

Moshulu are my absolute favourite

MindyandBella · 05/07/2020 20:45

Hi there am like you .keep slippers for ages then the heel goes etc etc .so now am trying out mohabis...think that’s how you say them .so far so good I have a high instep so I would have sizes up a half or full size..but that’s for future info.

kayakingmum · 05/07/2020 20:50

Draper of Glastonbury.
I got a pair for Christmas 2.5 years ago and have lived in them since then. Only starting to get a bit of a hole along the seem on my left one. Soles and uppers still good. I think they cost about £70.

catinb0oots · 05/07/2020 20:55

Moshulu

kelcys2175 · 05/07/2020 21:52

I like slippers with a proper sole for heel support, I also prefer a closed back slipper. I got crocs slippers for Christmas and I love them

Whatkatyforgottodo · 05/07/2020 22:54

I love my moshulu’s. On my third pair! I’d say they last about 3 years? Comfy, hard wearing and not too grannyish!

Annebronte · 05/07/2020 23:17

I love Celtic and Co. they last ages and can be washed. Pricey-ish, but worth it.

MadMadaMim · 06/07/2020 02:33

Costco Kirkland (the Costco own brand) do the best sheepskin furryy slippers ever

Richlyfruited · 06/07/2020 08:08

I absolutely loved my Mahabis and had them a few years but they aren't washable so I had to throw them out - they'd be the perfect slippers if you could chuck them in the washing machine!

I wear my TOMS as slippers now they're super comfy and light for summer.

zucchinieggplant · 06/07/2020 13:04

Another benefit of Celtic and co, apart from being able to machine wash them, is that they offer repairs including replacing the soles. If you're ever in Cornwall I can recommend a visit to their factory shop!
