Recommend me some decent slippers

I seem to get through slippers very quickly but admittedly I often don't spend much on them and I do wear whenever I'm in the house. My current pair were brown suede sheepskin mules which I liked (albeit from Sainsbury's so neither actually suede nor sheepskin). These have lasted no time at all and are now cracked through the soles and most crucially, have gone the way all slippers seem to in a few weeks for me and are a bit baggy, risking tripping on the stairs. My feet are slim (but not freakishly so) and size 5.
Nothing with a back on or toes out and not too Granny please I'm early 40's; otherwise all suggestions welcome. Happy to consider expensive ones if genuinely great but so far I've found the ones I've paid more for have been no better than cheap ones; hopefully this isn't always the case!

This thread is quite old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for warm, cosy slippers that stand the test of time, we’ve recently updated our best women’s slippers page with lots of great options, as worn and loved by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

These are my current ones

I just wear my £6 pale pink ugg style boots from Primark that are actually designed for outdoors wear. Then if I want to go out into the garden in them I can.
They're very comfy plus my neighbour wants them!! They look good with my pj bottoms & vest top, or with my jeans etc.

highlandcoo · 01/07/2020 22:10

Bedroom Athletics slipper boots are mid price range. I've had a couple of pairs and been pleased.

Theyweretheworstoftimes · 01/07/2020 22:11

Ugg

Once you buy some you never go back. Well worth the money

Terralee · 01/07/2020 22:11

I've had them since last September or October.

Hoppinggreen · 01/07/2020 22:12

DH bought me uggs slippers for Xmas (with help from DD) and I love them

forgottenusername · 01/07/2020 22:12

I'm onto my third pair of Moshulu spotty ones, hard sole (so ok for going outside to put rubbish out etc.) , each pair has lasted about 2 years before my right big toe wears a hole in the end!

I have uggs scuffette - wear them to death, and can go outside in them

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 01/07/2020 22:15

Celtic and Co sheepskin house boots

They are pricy but worth it, I've had mine for two years and I wear them constantly - and I work from home so when I say constantly, I mean constantly. Mine do need a wash which I'm a bit reluctant to do - that's what ruined my last pair which were Uggs - but apart from looking a bit dirty there's nothing wrong with them.

TimeWastingButFun · 01/07/2020 22:23

I loved my Ugg slippers but I like to regularly put slippers in the washing machine and I ruined them 😞

JollyGiraffe12 · 02/07/2020 11:27

Another vote for ugg scuffettes best slippers I’ve ever had

Graffitiqueen · 02/07/2020 11:41

I absolutely love my mahabis. Had them for years and they still look brand new.

Justeats · 02/07/2020 11:42

Gumbies. They are hands down the best slippers ever. They are so comfortable and really well made and have a good thick sole so I can we’re them if it’s raining and I need to go to the bin

Justeats · 02/07/2020 11:42

The pair I’m in now I’ve had for 2 years and they’re still going strong

HopefullySmart · 02/07/2020 11:47

Another vote for Uggs. Hard soled so can wear them all day, mine aren't mules so I don't shuffle about. Last forever.

Gotthetshirt23 · 02/07/2020 12:04

Moshulu - fab colours and have lasted a while . Good offers on at the moment as got a brochure in the post .
Always fancied mahabis but price is high and I don't know anyone personally that owns any to get a genuine opinion?

Sooverthemill · 02/07/2020 12:12

I always buy ugg slippers in the sale. Various styles over the years, usually backless for speed of getting on and off! Until then I had Dunlop sheepskin ones but they wear out fast.

il0vew1ne · 02/07/2020 12:13

moshula - love them

FizzyPink · 02/07/2020 12:13

I had ugg scufettes for 4 years and they were brilliant. Only got rid of them earlier this year and had two cheap pairs since and can’t believe how quickly they get all smelly and look a bit manky.

I’ll be going back to uggs from now on

GabrielleChanel · 02/07/2020 15:43

Another vote for Moshulu

DidgeDoolittle · 02/07/2020 16:04

Yet another vote for moshulu. I've had mine 5 years and they're still going strong.

Blueuggboots · 02/07/2020 16:06

Uggs. I've been wearing them for 25 years back when they were slippers and nothing else!!

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 02/07/2020 16:08

I love the Celtic & Co booties. My last pair lasted about 8 years. They are super comfortable and warm but as they are natural fibres, my feet never got over-heated and sweaty. They also never got as stinky as some previous slippers I've had!

They finally fell to bit this year and I've bought myself more. They are expensive but totally worth it.

Rayna37 · 02/07/2020 16:10

Thanks all some great tips. Don't fancy boot style but think moshulu looks promising. Had some gumbies and didn't rate them at all, I think they went wide quickly if I recall and the wool bobbled and my toe came through!

DH would be horrified about how many of you pop to the bin/washing line in slippers, he has a strict "no inside shoes outside" rule which I often break, it's only three steps in the car port to the bin
