How to hide my apron belly?

Is there a way to disguise my 'w' shaped belly in trousers? I feel like I have to wear really long tops to cover the awful bum shape trousers and jeans give me. I'm assuming shapewear would work but they always seem to be so uncomfortable and roll down and make me feel like a stuffed sausage I tend to only wear them for special occasions when I'm in a dress etc.

I just want something to stop me looking live I've got two arses when I wear jeans!

I wear snag tights and skirts. It’s disheartening isn’t it? I’m reasonably slim, but have the scrotum stomach.

Magicbabywaves · 30/06/2020 11:54

I know you said jeans, I’ve just given up on them.

Addler · 30/06/2020 12:23

It's awful, I feel like it makes me look so much bigger than I am and I hate the way shape so much. I see women who have a big tummy but it all seems straight across and looks so much better!

Csection belly here... Primark stretch big pants. Can't wear clothes happily without a pair! 3 pairs for a fiver. On a hanger together, own brand. Black or nude.

ChinWhiskers · 30/06/2020 12:29

Depends how big it is?

LadyPrigsbottom · 30/06/2020 12:29

Have you tried medium rise jeans op? I have a pair of girlfriend jeans from Gap. They are the only pair which I have ever been able to wear with normal tshirts and not long tops. I think anyone who is large of tum always gets told to wear high waisted skinnies, which are fine under longer shirts, but I think I couldn't wear them with a normal tshirt. Having said that, I got sent a pair of skinnies from one of those subscription clothes box things and they are actually great. They are a bit loose on the legs, but I like that look and they do not cling to my spare tire.

PS: I am not a thin person who is unfortunate in the belly region - I am a fat person who eats too much (yes, I'm now on a diet). So it may be a slightly different problem.

Mine was so bad I had a tummy tuck. As per Sunnys post, control pants were the only way forward before I had it done.

I found them more comfy as my skin wasn't jiggling. I'm talking firm big cotton pants you can wear everyday that come up to just below belly button that they sell in M&S. Not huge sweaty spanks!

Primark also do tummy control vests which also gave me support.

Lots of baby doll style tops.

Addler · 30/06/2020 12:35

I'm not a thin person with a belly either, I'm a fat person who used to be even fatter but has lost a lot of weight which has only made the tummy look looser and wobblier. At least before it was large but relatively solid looking!

I've got some bug M&S pants, I just feel like they're not firm enough to disguise the W shape. Maybe I need to double up? Confused

Depends what you are wearing, leggings and crop top will always show it. High rise jeans hold it all i find.

Badmemorieshouse · 30/06/2020 12:42

@Wobba11, if you don’t mind me asking, how was your recovery for your tummy tuck and how did you find the pain? Are you glad you had it?

I had my consultation for one but haven’t decided whether to go through with it yet!

Wobba11 · 30/06/2020 12:52

@badmemorieshouse It was the best thing I have ever done for myself and I would recommend it to everyone who had a tummy apron and was unhappy. I cried last year as it was the first time I wore a plain tight fitting tshirt and jeans since I had my 8 year old!

Its huge surgery but wasn't very painful at all. It was uncomfortable sleeping sat up on the sofa until I could stretch out and you have to walk hunched for a bit, but after 2 weeks I was back at work! If you can afford it then do it!!

Badmemorieshouse · 30/06/2020 12:56

Ow wow that’s fab! Thank you!

thethoughtfox · 30/06/2020 13:01

Can I recommend these? They are not super compression ones but are soft and comfy and smooth everything out. They genuinely don't roll down all day. I have a smaller size for when I want them to be tighter. They are pretty cheap too.

They also have actual pics/ videos of women with genuine squidge putting them on so you can see the difference.

Deathraystare · 30/06/2020 13:55

Wobba11

How did the tummy tuck go? I am interested in this myself. I would imagine you are bandaged quite heavily afterwards and would not be able to go home if on your own???

Deathraystare · 30/06/2020 13:56

WOBBA11 Sorry I saw you answered someone. Is it very painful though? I would be on my own so would I be able to look after myself??

Wobba11 · 30/06/2020 14:39

I think it all depends on each person in terms of recovery. I got a cab home from hospital and was able to shuffle up 2 flights of stairs to my flat unaided. I didnt have a huge appetite but could shuffle to the loo and kitchen fine. My mum came over to help me wash my hair and I laid on the sofa for pretty much 2 weeks with a drain on my wound. DS was at his Dads so I was by myself and could focus on rest.

It honestly looks like you've been cut in half at first! But then pain was nothing as bad as I expected and as long as you stay hunched you can look after yourself!

Addler · 30/06/2020 14:48

@thethoughtfox thanks I'll take a look. It is very hard to imagine how some of the shapewear will work when the pictures are of women who have the flattest tummy in the world wearing them!

@Wobba11 Did you have muscle repair and lipo as well as skin removal? Would love to know your surgeon if they were in or near London.

OP I feel your pain, I’m a size 12 everywhere else and an 18 around the belly button. Everyone recommends high waisted but actually I prefer a lower rise that sits on the fat bit under my belly button, it’s so droopy I can kind of pass it off as hips. Only works for looser leg trousers. With skinny jeans I have to have a long loose cami to cover everything up.

Wobba11 · 30/06/2020 14:58

Lipo on upper tummy and hips, skin removal and muscle repair! Surgeon was London based. Happy to share pics and his name if you message me as conscious this isn't helping the OP...

Addler · 30/06/2020 15:19

Actually @Wobba11 I would be interested to know as well, I've always known that's probably where I'll end up as I think mine is pretty extreme. I actually think I'd be pretty happy with the size I am if it wasn't for the apron!
