Plus size swimwear

I've heard that for the bustier among us, cup sized swimwear is better than dress size. However I am plus sized, 16-18 and concerned that large cup size won't equate to plus size elsewhere. Has anyone plus sized bought cup sized swim wear and how did you get on? Also, why is it so expensive?! Thanks

I buy mine from Bravissimo and it does make all the difference. Unfortunately, you are looking for about £50 for a swimsuit. That said, look after it and it lasts. I have had mine for years.

I might just have to bite the bullet. I just don't see how a swimsuit can fit a slim person and a not slim person just because they have the same size boots.

You can buy swim bras to wear underneath them, might be a solution for you.

Boots?

Anyway, slim and not slim people generally have different sized bands, even if they they share a cup size.

Sorry, boobs not boots, and yes I guess you're right about band size.
Thanks @Wizadorawobble I'll look in to that.

I'm a clothing 16 with a G cup. I got a tankini from I think matalan. Its supportive on the tummy area but also supports the bust- something I rarely find. Also very cheap! I think this is the one:

I'm 38h, size 16/18 and the fantasie cup size swimsuits fit perfectly. Expensive, but worth it.

I have the same trouble often if I buy cup sized from bravissimo it is too tight on belly. I have Elomi swimsuit (dress sized) and wear one of their swim bras underneath (even my sports bra for all the jumping in aquaciseGrin)

I swear there is a gap in the market here. Every year I find myself in this situation. Size 16-18 with big boobs = swimwear no mans land. Normal dress size swimwear leaves me bulging out the top. And there is such a limited choice of decent bra sized swimwear. Bravissimo are ok. But I’ve not found anything really great tbh.

I’m a size 16/18 with 36/38 G cup boobs. ( I’ve put on weight in lockdown and may have gone up). I’ve got a great swimsuit for swimming laps from Simply Swim. I do also have 2 cup sized bikinis with high waisted bikini bottoms that I got from Boux Avenue. I’d never bought anything from there before... they both fit well but are quite “ push up” which was not the most comfortable after a few hours.

I don’t know why I can’t post the photo 🤷‍♀️

I'm similar size (36g and 16-18) and have got some great swimwear from www.pourmoi.co.uk/

I've got bikinis, tankinis and swimsuits and all fit well. I'm lucky that I have one of their shops locally and get all my underwear from there too as they're a lot cheaper than bravissimo! Quality is good too.

Thebelleofstmarys · 30/06/2020 19:26

Just bought a 36GG Figleaves swimsuit from House of Fraser in their sale. I'm size 16 on bottom and 18-20 on top . This is a tad long in the body but a fabulous for otherwise and actually makes me look slimmer cos it's cut so well . £25 down from £55 .

Thank you all for suggestions and recommendations. Will be doing some more online browsing and hopefully find something to give a go.

I have a couple of Miraclesuits.
Worth every penny

alysanne24 · 01/07/2020 16:07

I’ve had decent bra sized swimwear from the supermarkets as well - Asda and Sainsbury’s would both be worth a look

HotSteppa · 01/07/2020 16:24

I love elomi swim wear, sized in bra sizes , tops and bottoms sold separately, not cheap but good quality and you can often find bits on sale
