Floral or citrus scented soap

I've moved from shower gel to bar soap in the shower, and wanted to try a nicely scented moisturising soap. Floral old lady soap, or something citrusy? Can anyone please recommend anything, preferably available online? My skin is quite old dry but not sensitive rhino hide. Our water is very hard if that makes a difference. SmileSmile

Well I love citrus scents - but these tend to be drying. I find bar soap dries my skin terribly too, so I tend to avoid it as much as I can.

Nesti Dante. I’ve never had one I don’t love.

Watching this thread as I'd love to find a soap that doesn't dry skin out and also smells amazing!

Steamfan · 30/06/2020 08:32

Bronnley lemon soap - just lovely!

Tavannach · 30/06/2020 08:37

Yardley lily of the valley is real old lady soap. I'm not sure if it's drying - it does contain shea butter.

I tried really hard to do this and swapped Jo Malone shower oil for bar soap. So drying Sad.

Bronnley lemon soap - just lovely!

It is , isn't it? I used to get it every Christmas. Is it still sold 'lemon shaped'?

APurpleSquirrel · 30/06/2020 09:47

The Dartmoor Soap Company does really nice soap - the Orange & Cinnamon one makes me think of Christmas & the rose one is lovely, as is the lemon & mint.

I did their soap making course last year, so now make my own.

Steamfan · 30/06/2020 10:21

Deathray - yes! it is!

This company’s products are gorgeous - found them on holiday in Cornwall. The soaps do not dry out skin, and they last a long time. The lavender and geranium soap is a favourite, and they do three in a box - you can choose a selection.
Their shower gels are lovely too...although I realise you want soap.

Steamfan Yay! Now to track them down! I once saw them in Beauty Base (when it was still pretty good to shop there - got a lot of now discontinued perfumes but now they are obsessed with 'sleb' scents and non brand names) -not ones I have heard of anyway!

SuperSange · 30/06/2020 11:04

Some fantastic ideas here! I like the sound of lemon and geranium.

A lot of perfumes are available in soap as well. You might be able to find your favourite in a bar. My go to for soap is always honey scents.

isabellerossignol · 30/06/2020 11:09

It's funny how everyone's skin is different. I swapped to bar soap a few years ago and find it much less drying than shower gel.

Liquid hand soap strips the skin off the back of my hands and leaves me covered in a huge red welts that sting so badly. Since switching to bar soap, I've never had a problem at all.

TK Maxx is great for bar soaps, all sorts of brands in there.

SuperSange · 01/07/2020 12:55

I now have a variety on order; I'll report back! Thank you for the help. x

Definitely Nesti Dante, sounds like you'd like their Romantica ones which are florals.

woofsaidtimmy · 01/07/2020 20:05

Faith in Nature aloe vera has a nice traditional 'soapy' smell. Lovely rich lather, not drying. The hemp one is quite citrusy, and they also do grapefruit and orange.

JaceLancs · 01/07/2020 21:57

Tkmaxx have some lovely citrus soaps
I too love bronnley lemon - lasts ages and they do lime too

ZazieRosie · 02/07/2020 07:15

Dr Bronner Soap bar in citrus or rose

kitschplease · 02/07/2020 07:28

The Faith in Nature grapefruit one is 👌

WrinklesShminkles · 02/07/2020 13:36

Nesti Dante Iris is a nice powdery floral.
