A jolly dress for a funeral

Help!!!!

I need a dress that isn’t black (or at least not all black) for someone who has asked that we look relatively jolly for her funeral.

I’m 5’4 and have recently lost 2 stone so nothing I have fits.

I’m 37, around a size 10-12. Narrow hips, 34 DD boobs and don’t mind showing my arms (these days). I tend to wear round or v neck as it looks more flattering with bigger boobs, but otherwise I like most styles of dresses and much prefer a dress to a two piece combo.

I usually get dresses from warehouse, french connection or whistles (on a pay day). I have no natural sense of style or a particular ‘look’ I try for.

Any suggestions?!!

I would have a look at Popsy. Some of the prints are way out there but there are some gorgeous floral prints that are lovely and happy

I wore a lovely dress from Joules for a funeral a few years ago, maybe have a look at their website?

What colours suit you and what's the budget?

sorryiasked · 27/06/2020 18:32

this one is nice?

sorry I really like that dress. I may well order it to try.

My budget is probably up to £80. I don’t want to spend a fortune but could go a bit over.

I don’t tend to have specific colours I wear. I’m fair skinned and have blonde hair. I need to disguise a bit of a mum tum but the midi dress you linked would do that I reckon.

This is the kind of thing I like- wore to a summer wedding, but it’s backless and a bit too loose now so not really suitable.

I probably suit lights/pastels/florals better than blocks of strong colour.

Some nice things on phase eight at the moment:

I wore a dress I previously bought for a wedding to my cousin’s funeral last year. Felt so weird getting ready, in a cream and blue floral dress, but everyone at the funeral was dressed in bright colours and it felt lovely

Next online sell a variety of labels of dresses, there are some lovely Lipsy dresses for example.

This could work with your colouring...

I really like the two Hush dresses but for some reason everything I order from Hush just hangs wrong on me.

I’ll definitely check out phase 8- never shopped there before.

I like the DP dress but with it being jersey material it might be a bit too casual for a formal do.
