White dress as a wedding guest?

maisiejane26 · 26/06/2020 19:42

First time poster but I have a dilemma.

I know wearing white to a wedding is a massive faux-pas and the last thing I want to do is offend anyone. However after what seems like forever searching for a dress, I've found one I love but the main part of the dress is white so I have no idea whether it's acceptable or not!

Honest opinions please, I'm ready to be slated for even considering it 🙈

I'd think it was fine with blue accessories, unless the bride is the type who constantly takes offence over nothing... and if so, I'd definitely wear it!

BikeRunSki · 26/06/2020 20:43

It’s fine. It won’t make you look like the bride.

If you're already second-guessing your choice, I would go for something else. You don't want to spend the day thinking about your outfit.

GemmeFatale · 26/06/2020 20:51

From a photographers point of view it’s white enough to be an issue in the photos. Particularly if the bride goes for a less white dress (Ivory/cream/oyster/etc).

CosmicVagina · 26/06/2020 20:54

I wouldn't even notice if somebody had worn white at my wedding

Bella2020 · 26/06/2020 21:44

I can't understand why people think it's unsuitable. I think it's lovely and perfectly fine for a wedding!

MoltonSilver · 26/06/2020 21:49

Just avoid white altogether. Its not worth it.

@CrystalMaisie

I’d say no it isn’t suitable personally, but if you feel comfortable then go for it.
what is wrong with it?

Pretty summer dress, not bridal at all in my eyes.
