I know it's been done to death - comfortable, flat but smart sandals for work

Not birkies or fit flops, just something simple, but nice, comfy and smart to wear when I go back to the office in July. Any suggestions... I'm looking online and everything seems to be sliders, which I have plenty of, but could do with something a bit more professional.

Help!

Also bare shoulders...

irecitethegruffaloinmydreams · 25/06/2020 23:38

I have these Cos sandals which are really comfortable and not too strappy - perfect for my law firm office (if I were allowed in it...) www.cosstores.com/en_gbp/women/accessories/shoes/product.sandals-with-elastic-detail-black.0533736001.html

Try Seasalt - 20% sale on at the moment too.

Karwomannghia · 25/06/2020 23:45

I have some earth spirit sandals that are just so comfortable and really don’t look frumpy!

MoltonSilver · 26/06/2020 00:58

I suppose I'm conditioned by dress codes at previous jobs but it's always been no open toed shoes.

trumpisaflump · 26/06/2020 07:41

@Imtoooldforallthis those sandals are lovely! Not sure if I could justify paying full price for them though and the lovely rose gold ones you linked are only available in a size 8. Gorgeous though!

UltimateWednesday · 26/06/2020 08:15

Sigh, it's like a whole other world. Not only sandals but gold shoes for work?! Grin

Imtoooldforallthis · 26/06/2020 08:33

I would keep an eye on the website as they do go in the sale, I got the yellow ones in the sale and they are really nice.

StormBaby · 26/06/2020 08:35

Best smart sandals I've ever had I bought in a charity shop still with tags on and they are from gasp M&S 😂 The brand are called Footglove and they are so bloody comfy. The entire range veers wildly from hideous, to lovely

GrumpyHoonMain · 26/06/2020 08:37

Rather than sandals why not opt for open toe flats or the mesh flats (like the Dune design)?

BillBaileysBum · 26/06/2020 08:44

We’re not allowed open toed shoes at work. Or jeans, or bare shoulders.
I’m quite glad to be at home this summer from that point of view.

Would love any recommendations for closed toe smart work summer shoes.

UltimateWednesday · 26/06/2020 08:48

Clarks have flat (but not too flat) pumps in numerous summery colours in the sale atm.

Tippexy · 26/06/2020 09:15

Please don’t show your toes in the office.

Tippexy · 26/06/2020 09:17

@UltimateWednesday

Oh this is another one that makes me feel very old. Sandals? In the office?!

Strictly against the rules when I started work and still seems unprofessional to me.

Agreed - and no I’m not ancient.
MissFlite · 26/06/2020 09:21

Palmeiras?

The original, flat ones. So comfy but don't show toes!

MissFlite · 26/06/2020 09:21

Or rather, Palmairas.

vaz119 · 26/06/2020 09:37

I'm in the same boat as @BillBaileysBum. No sandals in written. I could get away with the palmairas because the toes aren't showing.

I love the look of them... But I must have skinny heels (the only skinny part of me) because I walk out of courts and ballet flats and generally need an ankle strap 😢

incognitomum · 26/06/2020 09:49

I got some amazing ones from Pavers. Plus got a discount with my blue light card.

Ginfordinner · 26/06/2020 09:49

I have the same problem vaz. Most ballet pumps and loafers are like flip flops on me.

Ginfordinner · 26/06/2020 09:51

I forgot to say that I am a fan of Earth Spirit and Rieker as well.

incognitomum · 26/06/2020 09:58

Pavers sandals

Snog · 26/06/2020 10:13

I'm bewildered as to why some offices don't allow sandals in the summer. I don't think it's unprofessional in any way to have your toes on display?

Ginfordinner · 26/06/2020 10:28

Neither do I. Where I work there is a no flip flop rule, although that is academic now as we are all working from home.

I must admit that I don't care for Saltwater sandals, and think they are too casual for office wear.

UltimateWednesday · 26/06/2020 10:36

Would you think it professional for men to wear sandals in the office?
