I’m a 12/14 and normally a 14 on bottom

I wear a 12 in next jeggings and want to buy some M&S jeggings

Should I buy a 12 or 14?

Buy both and return the one which doesn't fit if it's feasible cos-wise OP? It's so tricky to get a good fit with trousers. M&S standard home delivery is so slow at the moment (about 2 weeks, whenever i have ordered) so it would be a right faff if the size was wrong and you wanted to change it. Returns process is easy though.

I think both Next and M&S cut their clothes on the bigger size, I only used to buy workwear from Next/M&S but always had to size down compared to the rest of the high street and shops i tend to shop in for day clothes.

kathryn19801 · 24/06/2020 12:08

I would say they are similar.

GrumpyHoonMain · 24/06/2020 12:12

Depends on the jegging but generally M&S ones are bigger at the waist and stretchier. GAP might be a better fit for you.

RedCatBlueCat · 24/06/2020 12:13

I'm a 14 in each, so I'd say they are similar sizes.

Minniee · 24/06/2020 12:21

Next are bigger that M&S in most trousers but not all.

MolotovMocktail · 24/06/2020 12:30

I have the coated jeggings from Next in a 12 but wear size 14 M&S jeggings, if that helps. I’m v apple shaped with narrow hips.

GrimDamnFanjo · 25/06/2020 01:07

Take your measurements and check against the guides online on the M&S site.

RainRainGoAway2020 · 26/06/2020 09:30

I'm a 12 in both.

ExtremelyBoldSquirrels · 26/06/2020 09:34

@GrimDamnFanjo

Take your measurements and check against the guides online on the M&S site.
I find that the measurements on any clothing retailer’s website to be largely a work of fiction.
Fressia123 · 26/06/2020 09:37

IME Next comes smaller than M&S. Gap is terrible at vanity sizing so would stay away. (I still fit in my size 6 and I'm definitely not that size!)

UltimateWednesday · 26/06/2020 09:48

IME Next sizes are huge and M&S run big too.

I wear size 10 jeans from Next but may need a 12 in M&S if you measure me I'm actually a 14

Rebelwithallthecause · 26/06/2020 10:14

@ExtremelyBoldSquirrels the size guides are definitely fiction

They both give the same measurements. But those are the same measurements across all other shops too and there’s no way I’m a 12 Bottom in most other shops.

Gap I still fit into my 10’s so they are definitely just as bad.

Gap use American sizing, so a Gap 10 is a uk 14. It is not vanity sizing and is quite true to size.

woodlandwalker · 26/06/2020 12:12

I find M&S are similar in sizing, they are both more generous than some shops.

PerfidiousAlbion · 26/06/2020 12:17

Dont GAP use US sizing?

I’d say Next is slightly smaller than M&S.

Fressia123 · 26/06/2020 12:46

Yes Gap uses American sizes but it's not true to size at all... I fit in jeans (26in) and size 2 (so 6UK) and at 5ft3in I'm.considered overweight.

In comparison I fit in size 10 and about half of my size 8 clothes.

If you are a 12 in next would you be the same in M&S?
Fressia123 · 26/06/2020 12:50

In fact just tried my size 0 (so size 4 ) for the giggles and they fit!!

Rebelwithallthecause · 27/06/2020 14:01

Yewtown - my gap 10’s was a Uk 10! So US 6 Shock
A US 10 would be too big on me
