Thigh chub rub clothing recommendations

Snooks1971 · 22/06/2020 20:21

Please! I usually hover between sizes 12 to 14, no chub rub issues really when a 12. Currently a 14 since lockdown unsurprisingly!
Wearing jeans I’m fine, hot weather is looming though and today I felt uncomfortable in my skirt.
I’ve read on here about recommendations that won’t add to the heat factor but I didn’t ‘watch’ or save the threads.
Any advice v welcome, thank you.

Nothing except chub rub shorts from snag and barrier cream in a tube from a tiny backstreet chemist in spain. I have searched everywhere for that cream and can not find it in the UK, i left the tube in the villa so snag are the next best thing. Tried everything else, it either didnt work or left me sticky or wet. All other shorts i've tried are too hot or roll up :(

I personally use cotton cycling shorts under dresses.

DelphiniumBlue · 23/06/2020 18:51

I've tried loads, snag are the most comfortable for me.
They've just restocked and I got some lovely raspberry pink ones today!

Snooks1971 · 23/06/2020 21:19

I’ve ordered 3 pairs of snags, torn between sloggi too but they are almost twice the price, I need to get back down to a 12 then I’m ok. Thanks all 😊

Me too: I have 3 pairs of M&S body sensor tights which I cut down to shorts length. Perfect!

Another one for cotton cycling tights. I got mine from Asda and have different colours so it's kind of cool if one catches a glimpse too. None of the creams work for me. Tight material shorts do nothing because I still get the chub rub through them and it's even worse than skin on skin.
I have a couple of long legged pants but they are all uncomfortable and get in the butt crack (TMI) so pants and cycling shorts it is.
I'm also size 14 by the way, but I used to get chub rub as a child already. Remember the first dancing camp and how I had to walk with legs apart. I was maybe 8-9. Anyway, just saying that because I've tried it all over the years.

Dry shampoo!!! Or if you cba reapplying snag tights do fab tight shorts

exhaustedTortoise · 23/06/2020 21:29

Another vote for Snag chub-rub shorts. They're amazing, I wear them under every dress or skirt. You can't feel them at all and no more sore rub, even if you walk loads. Best thing I discovered.

picklemewalnuts · 23/06/2020 21:30

Snags folk, how do I make sure they are long enough in the leg? My thighs are full almost to my knees. Every other short I've tried rides up because they are too short in the first place.

DannyGlickWindowTapping · 23/06/2020 21:38

I have Primark cotton cycle shorts, which are ok, if a bit boring. I also have used the Lanacane anti-chafe gel, which worked quite well. Apparently, the ingredients in this, make-up primer and silicone lube are pretty much the same and can be interchanged! I have used Lanacane on my face and it was fine with no shine etc.. Can't say I've tried any other substitutions. Grin

This - a liberal application will last you all day -and the pot will last you years. Given me back confidence to go out without cycling shorts. There's a smaller tube too. Wonderful stuff.

StormBaby · 23/06/2020 22:43

I wear cute little rub shorts from sainsbury's and they're so cool and comfy that I hate putting normal underwear on when it's a trouser day!

Cuppaand2biscuits · 23/06/2020 23:00

I cut down normal black leggings that might have already got a whole in them or gone a bit faded. Works perfectly.

picklemewalnuts · 24/06/2020 11:18

I've just cut off to crop level a pair of substantial M&S velvet type tights. They feel fabulous. I never wear them because they feel a bit tight around the body, and the legs feel twisted. With no feet in them that's all resolved. Great!

4thtimesthecharm · 29/06/2020 09:15

Another for snag tights chub rub. I'm the same size as you op. And tall, for the poster asking about length, with no problems there Smile

sotiredofthislonelylife · 29/06/2020 09:21

@wrongsideofhistorymyarse

Sloggi long knickers. They're expensive but amazing.
I second sloggies - not exactly great to look at, but they certainly do the job.

I have tried plenty of other things;

talc - just a few minutes
silicone gel stuff - lasts longer, but feels horrid
lacy top cut from ‘hold ups’ - not bad, but usually curl up after a while

MrsMoastyToasty · 29/06/2020 09:36

I've been wearing cycling shorts from Peacocks. 100% cotton ones. disclaimer- I don't do any cycling
