So I think I might have wavy hair.

After a lifetime of believing my hair is poker straight it seems I might be wrong! I let it air fry the other day without brushing it when wet and there was a really slight wave. This morning after washing I didn’t brush it and scrunched in some Tresemme air dry curl cream and got the results in the photos! Is my hair actually a bit wavy? If it is what can I do to encourage the wave? I’ve spent nearly 40 years wishing for anything but straight hair and some waves would be amazing! Does anyone have any hints or tips?

It's not very wavy, but the length of the hair might be a factor.

Spritz water on your hair and tip your head upside down, it will probably look a lot wavier. Using gel or mousse scrunch it.

If your hair is very damp, use a diffuser and scrunch it.

It looks nice.

I keep my hair short and I never brush it. Otherwise the wave is dragged out and it turns to frizz.

Thank you! After next wash I’ll try a scrunch with some mousse and see what happens. It’s definitely more bendy than wavy just now and is desperately in need of a cut!

Agree with not using a brush. I haven't, for literally years, just teasing my fingers through to untangle. Work with the hair's inherent movement, scrunch to enhance whilst it dries and use your hairdryer's diffuser!
