Anyone used baukchiol serum?

It's an ingredient that apparently behaves like retinol, but doesn't make your skin photo sensitive, so you can use day and night. Nadine Baggott and Dr Sam Bunting are big fans. I just bought Revolution 1% Baukchiol serum, on offer at Boots at the moment, but only a tenner full price. I currently use The Ordinary 1% retinol in squalane, and honestly don't know if it's doing anything for me

Anyone used this ingredient before?

Yep I've used the Revolution one. I've got really sensitive skin and didn't want to risk Retinol. It was good but I get the same results with my vitamin C/hyaluronic acid serum and no irritation.

I read somewhere there's no evidence for Baukchiol but there's some proper experts on here can probably give you better advice than me!

I’m currently using the Frezyderm one on my neck and check. I find it v easy to use, not like tret which I find nigh on impossible to tolerate.
Does it do anything? It makes my skin smoother, for sure. Don’t know about anything else yet. I’m using it a few months now, probably need another few months use before deciding how good it really is.
I’ve looked it up and as far as I can see, there’s v little evidence it works. There is a paper from some years ago, but the numbers were v small and it suggested it had a retinol-like effect but the usual ‘more trials necessary’ conclusion.

I’ve also read that Bakuchiol is endangered (is that the right word for a plant?) so that’s not not great.

But I know there are more expert skin folk around here so they may have more info on it.

Sorry, the Frezyderm one isn’t a serum
