I'm around two weeks in on my first prescription with a Tretinoin 0.025%/ Hydroquinone 4% cream. I've used retinoids on/ off for a few years from the ordinary and beauty pie but not consistently; however comfortable enough to start on my dermatica prescription on a daily basis. I have been using my beauty pie superactive capsules and my trusted avene moisturiser after to avert any dry skin issues, after 10 minutes or so to let the cream sink in. I'm finding some under skin bumps, roughness to texture, nothing obviously visible but wanted some reassurance from others further on their journey that this is normal before I get some results.

Any experience or tips gratefully received.

I am using the same prescription, are you using those after you apply the tret ? If so I would just use the tret at night and use those in the morning.

I have had no reaction to the prescription but I am using nothing else at all at night. In the morning I use an resurfacing cleanser, vit c and then moisturise.

Could be you’re clogging up your skin at night

DontfeedtheDonkey · 20/06/2020 08:22

Can I join in? I'm a month into the same prescription.
I'm using Dermatica cream twice a week and Medik8 retinol on the other days. Night cream & oil over the top after 30 minutes. Vitamin C and spf in the day.
No reactions yet but I'm not convinced of any improvement either.

Maybe twice a week isn’t enough to see any change ? I’m using it everyday

Bigpaintinglittlepainting the capsules are like a moisture shot for the skin and designed for use after retinols; I've been using them for a month when I was using another retinol product along so pretty sure they're not causing any problems and they feel great on the skin.

I don't think I could use a retinol without moisturising after as my skin would feel tight. Are you seeing any benefit yet?
DontfeedtheDonkey I hear the prescription for tret gets stronger after a couple of months so will be interesting to see if this has an affect for you. I had also been using vit c in the am but abandoned after 6 weeks as couldn't see any benefit. I should probably commit to longer but was a faff in the mornings for no discernable benefit.

Tretinoin is a long term commitment. It’s rare to see much after one month.
It’s imperative to have a really simple routine when first starting it too. The Dermatica formulation is very elegant, but ... it still needs to be treated as a prescription drug!
I would use the basics for a good 6 months... then see how things are are! Smile

I am doing:

AM: Glycolic toner, vit c, resveratol + ferulic, sun block

PM: Dermatica tret + nicinamide, peptides, moisturiser.

My face feels fine. My neck can’t handle it so I am only using moisturiser on it now.

Can take 6-12 months to see a difference. Post again in a year 😂

pinkhousesarebest · 20/06/2020 20:44

I used Retirides for almost a year. No difference whatsoever. My skin looks so relieved I’ve stopped!

I’m using the same px & my red marks from cystic acne 3 years ago 😭 have significantly faded. I still have brown marks from the contraceptive implant but I’m confident they’ll fade.

I dab it on the worst areas then sweep the residue on my fingers over my face.

I’ve been using it 2 x a week for 5 weeks.

TableNiner · 08/08/2020 14:42

I’m using 0.5 Tret from Dermatica every night (also with niacinamide). As it’s summer (UK) I have cut back from a richer Avene moisturiser to Cerave PM which I consider relatively light. You could perhaps see what happens if you reduce your level of moisturisation, if that’s a word!
