Help me improve my face (pic attached)

I'm serious.
When I look at my face it's like my head is lopsided on a permanent tilt. I noticed it really badly on a Zoom meeting this morning.
Is it my hair or my parting that makes it look bad?
Is my jaw asymmetrical?

How can I make it better?

I can’t see it honestly. You have lovely skin, face shape and colouring.

Bloops · 18/06/2020 18:42

You look perfectly fine!!! Noones face is symmetrical, we would all look very strange if they were.

ArseholesOnToast · 18/06/2020 18:42

I’m another one who can’t see a single thing wrong with your face, it’s very symmetrical (and I had a good long closeup look with my specs pushed down to the end of my nose especially).

Please don’t obsess about it Flowers

redastherose · 18/06/2020 18:44

There is nothing wrong with your face. Make up and having your hair done would make a massive difference like it does for everyone. I look plain and quite masculine with my hair tied back and no makeup, look ok and much more feminine with my hair dried properly to give it some body and either curled or straightened. I really don't like seeing myself on camera unless I have make up on tbh. I think that is the same for most people.

Thankyou everyone. I feel so daft now.
I will get a grip and find something else to worry about.

Your cheek bones are schmazing.

Littlemeadow123 · 18/06/2020 18:58

You are beautiful, OP!

B0bbin · 18/06/2020 19:03

Good face OP! Smile

Browzingss · 18/06/2020 19:04

Dunno - it looks symmetrical to me?? Unless it looks different in motion.

The only thing that doesn’t look symmetrical is your parting.

As for improving your appearance just do general things like investing in skincare, drinking water, eating well, sleeping well etc.

Browzingss · 18/06/2020 19:06

Also one more thing, if anything your lighting might not be great (especially on video). Bad lighting is unflattering. Personally I have bright daylight bulbs in my house (cool white, not warm white)

fuckoffImcounting · 18/06/2020 19:07

You look lovely OP.

ramarama · 18/06/2020 19:07

Zoom is all about lighting and angles. You need to put your laptop/tablet on something so that the camera is AT LEAST as high as your eyeline, preferably higher. Tom Ford suggest a source of light (lamp) highlighting your good side (or if you don't have a preference, then just one side)

Tiny bit of colour goes a long way - blusher, lip balm or both.

If you still worry that youre not symmetrical ( and you look more symmetrical than most I'd say - and lovely) then part your hair just slightly off centre :-)

TheRealHousewife · 18/06/2020 19:09

@Burpalot Your head looks fine.... 😂. I do agree with you, @fairgame84 does look fine. Would look even better with a smile 😊

fairgame84 · 18/06/2020 19:12

I think my Zoom days are over 🤦‍♀️😂

OP you're beautiful. All your face needs is a smile. Nobody likes seeing themselves on Zoom, just minimise your image and concentrate on the person you're talking to Flowers

lilgreen · 18/06/2020 19:18

It’s because you’re not seeing your mirror image do it looks unfamiliar. Your head looks normal to me.

lilgreen · 18/06/2020 19:19

Warm white lights are more flattering than bright daylight bulbs. But I am 49!

fairgame84 · 18/06/2020 19:23

@Browzingss you are bang on about my parting. It's a pain. I do a center parting but then I sleep and my hair does it own thing and the parting ends up anywhere!
I've tried a side parting and the same thing happens.

Nothing wrong with your face at all, seems well balanced to me. The Grey sweatshirt makes you look washed out, try a bit more colour.Flowers

Browzingss · 18/06/2020 19:31

Having a perfect parting isn’t a big deal though, it’s one of those things that no one really notices! I subconsciously mess around with my hair all the time so it never ends up perfectly neat or centred either

See I personally prefer cool white lighting because it minimises shadows etc. Definitely looks miles better in photos & videos. I get that warm lighting can look more inviting outside of photos though.

YouokHun · 18/06/2020 19:43

If your face was totally symmetrical you’d look proper weird! Have you ever tried those apps which transpose one side you your face to the other side so that you’re totally symmetrical - not a good look. As others have said Zoom et al distort badly, as do some phones when taking photos. You’re fine.

stinkystinky · 18/06/2020 19:51

Zoom is horrid - you see people how they see you, you are used to your mirror reflection! You look absolutely symmetrical in your pic. For zoom if you can get you camera in line with your face and a low laptop etc doesn’t help

But honestly you look perfectly normal.

costco · 18/06/2020 20:07

just one thing to add, I bet everyone was using the Zoom touch-up function so if you weren't then you mistakenly thought you looked bad, when actually they just looked photoshopped!
if it's any consolation i had to turn the camera off on my team call today because my face looked so awful to me!

fairgame84 · 18/06/2020 20:10

@Costco I had no idea about a touch up function. I had to get DS to help me get the sound on 😂

Good grief! Your skin!! Those cheekbones and lips to die for!!! I don't know what you're seeing but completely different to what we're seeing!!
