Heat protector question

If I wash my hair today, comb heat protection, let it dry naturally and sleep on it, can I straighten it with straighteners the next day without adding any more protection?

What if I do that but dry it with a hair dryer instead of air dry?

Or will the protection come off in the night?

I don’t know for sure but assume that as typically the product instructions say to apply to towel dried hair, it designed to then be effective at that point when it’s expected you’d dry it/apply heat.
