Long Tall Sally is closing!!

Just read this at the top of their website www.longtallsally.com/

I can’t say I’m entirely surprised, a lot if their designs are a bit frumpy and it’s expensive for what it is but I still buy an item or two each season. They should have switched to online and reduced prices as a result much sooner. Very disappointing and one less place I can order from, knowing that most clothes fit ☹️

I am gutted. I'm trying to lose weight at the moment so unsure whether to order a load of stuff in smaller sizes.

I only wear jeans and trousers from there. No idea where I will get them otherwise.

burnoutbabe · 17/06/2020 10:48

Same here, I am sad.
I just want jeans that fit. That aren't top shop that show my bum.
Next I have tried and every single thing looks weird on me.
I too am tempted to stock up but they only had one pair of bootcut jeans in stock.

EnterFunnyNameHere · 17/06/2020 17:12

Oh no, son of a bitch Sad They are basically the only place I can reliably get jumpers or jeans! Damn!!

Next is long enough but sizing there is mad, and nowhere stocks tall ranges to actually try on.

Gutted!!

Zinnia · 17/06/2020 17:38

Agree with you all that the styles have been largely woeful for some time now, but still sad. Was especially handy for larger sized shoes (for me at least, I'm on the shorter side of tall in LTS terms).

Have always thought the main problem with the designs was that they are an American company, and the clothes were mediocre US styles at their worst. A European sensibility to the range would have been much better.

We need a Scandinavian equivalent to take its place!

Tisahardlife · 17/06/2020 17:41

I'm absolutely gutted about this, I have absolutely no idea where I will buy clothes that fit now, particularly jeans and trousers as I have a 36" inside leg Sad

ureterr1blemuriel · 17/06/2020 18:24

Hopefully someone buys them out and keeps it going in some format!

Perhaps we should share where else we can go to get clothes? Here’s my (very limited) list...

  • Next Tall - only online though
  • Topshop for jeans (everything else is a bit too trendy and young for me)
  • H&M seem to be quite generous in sleeve length in shirts and cardigans
  • Boohoo do a tall range but I’ve never tried it so can’t really recommend but I know it’s there.

That’s all I can think of 😩

I can’t say I’m surprised. I rarely bought anything from LTS. They just never seemed to have the good, simple range of basics I was after...just lots and lots of odd, patterned tat. We really do need better options for tall women, though, so this is a blow for some, I’m sure.

I’ll add ASOS, Dotty P and Boden to the list above. It’s slim pickings out there, though.

readwritelove · 17/06/2020 20:46

Zinnia, totally agree, a Scandi version of LTS would be fab - especially jeans, knitwear and drapey jersey dresses. Hope a company like this pops up!

SinglePringle · 17/06/2020 20:50

Arkett and Cos are good for longer legs. I’m a 35 inside leg and buy from both of these (and ASOS Tall).

longlentgh · 04/07/2020 15:17

As a 6ft 5 lady, size 18, I was devastated at the news of LTS closing, BUT dont panic ladies today I recieved my order of Jean's from asos and they fit perfect and the extra bonus they only cost £17.20 with free delivery. I am going to order a long sleeve top also and a vest to see the body length and arm length. I will report back. Us tall ladies need to stick together the pickings are slim but are there.

ComeOnGordon · 04/07/2020 15:21

I bought high waisted long leg jeans from Gap and they fit amazingly well. And so long. I would agree - LTS always seemed a bit frumpy and expensive when l looked. Was buying some Long jeans from Dorothy Perkins for a while but the quality is terrible

burnoutbabe · 04/07/2020 19:32

I tried to order some gap long trousers online but the Sizing was inconsistent so I had to return then all.
I may try again but I don't think they will do size 16 clothes.

ComeOnGordon · 05/07/2020 18:32

@burnoutbabe I bought a size 16 from gap

Mystraightenersarebroken · 05/07/2020 18:48

Definitely try Gap

hangingupmyscrubs · 05/07/2020 21:46

G star jeans come out really long. I usually wear 36inch inside leg but had to buy 34's. They feel really good quality. I've had mine six months and they still look brand new. Their original retail price was about £90 but I got mine in the sale for £50.

Pikachubaby · 05/07/2020 22:44

I switched to Dorothy Perkins for jeans ages ago

LTS was stuck in the 90s, style wise, I really stopped buying there even though I am 6ft+

Jigsaw and Baukjen are also made for tall women IMO but ££££

And ASOS do tall

LTS just did not keep with the times

Lineofconcepcion · 05/07/2020 22:47

Gap Tall are pretty good. I'm long in the body and the tops are good but limited.

UncertainFuture · 05/07/2020 23:01

I always wanted to get some pyjamas that actually fit from there but they never seemed to have the bottoms in stock!

readwritelove · 18/08/2020 14:44

Just had an email from them that they have a new owner and will continue to trade. Fingers crossed for some lovely new things (especially Scandi knitwear)!

Kannie · 14/11/2020 10:55

Very bizarre selection. There’s a lot there, but it seems to be mainly remainders they’re selling (perhaps understandably) - but also some REALLY dated and embarrassingly duff designs, that I’d either not seen before or had blanked out!
I found their jeans developed ‘loose’ patches where the elastene had died - did anyone else?
LTS had a good returns policy, I’m a bit worried about now ?

satchat · 14/11/2020 11:22

I buy jeans and work trousers from Long Tall Sally. I have found that their sizes really vary.

I've ordered two pairs of jeans this year and I have been pleased with them.

I was hoping to get get some good bargains as they are trying to get rid of old stock. I still think it is fairly expensive despite the up to 70% sale at the moment.

Long Tall Sally has asked people what they would like to see with the new stock. Hopefully there will be improvements as some of the clothes and designs are frumpy.

plasticboxesrock · 28/11/2020 08:35

Kannie yes! Like a weird ruffle effect. I thought it was my dodgy ironing....

I've just bought a couple of things with the extra 20% discount but my hopes are not high. I found out from others on here that there are facebook LTS selling sites but I got bamboozled with things so have left the groups. Ebay often has LTS things and TBH I have probably bought and sold more LTS items there than from them directly. Still got 2 brand new pairs of the kind of jeans I like in the wardrobe, I tend to wear one pair until they wear out and then move on to another.

Have tried Next Tall in the past but they are not as comfortable in the rise, a bit too trendy.

But yes, the stuff on the website at the moment is a bit random.

And yes satchat the sizes are crazily variable! Two identical pairs of jeans fit differently.

Satchat · 28/11/2020 10:33

I'm not keen on the few items of new clothing on the website.

It drives me mad that LTS seem to have offers just before payday. I want to get a pair of the cut off jeans for summer but might wait to see if they have more discounts over Christmas. They usually have sales then.

Satchat · 28/11/2020 13:01

Or should I say real bargains
