I can’t say I’m surprised as their stuff has been pretty rubbish for a while. Still a shame though, more jobs lost.

Yes, I feel the same. I had brand loyalty as a long term customer from when it was one of the few options. But it has been frumpy and expensive for a long time. Shame for all the staff. I hope parts of it may be bought by other brands and jobs TUPE'd over.

AMillionMugsNoTeabags · 16/06/2020 13:48

No surprise here either; it’s been getting frumpier and frumpier for ages. But the jersey basics were perfect - not broad but long. I’ve not found anywhere else as good for me. I’m going to have to stock up.

Kpo58 · 16/06/2020 14:14

It's s shame, but I'm not surprised. Everything is so expensive there and in dull dark or unattractive colours. Sad

Does anyone know where else does long t-shirts. I hate how most tops from other retailers stop around the belly button.

autumnpie · 16/06/2020 14:30

I am very sad because after many years of searching for jeans to fit properly I had finally found them at Long Tall Sally!

I am very sorry for all the staff who have lost their jobs.

Pipandmum · 16/06/2020 14:46

OMG! 90% of their clothes are pretty awful but they are my go to for long skirts and workout trousers! I better get an order in!

PlatinumBrunette · 16/06/2020 14:53

I’m surprisingly gutted. Been a customer for 40 years, and yes, loads of crap stuff, crap quality, stupid prices but often some absolutely brilliant and long lasting buys. They are the only workable options I have, hopefully somebody will buy the company.

midsomermurderess · 16/06/2020 14:57

It was so frumpy and middle aged, I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. I always wondered who its market was. Being tall is not synonymous with being a frump. It could really have been on to a winner, especially when it once was so very hard to find clothes as a tall woman.

ishouldtryabiteachdayy · 16/06/2020 15:06

I have bought from them in the past mainly basic jersey , but I have a long body not long legs. I found their shirts and more decorative tops short and can just about manage with a long in Jeans in normal retailers. Very expensive, not been able to shop there since having kids due to the cost. Not surprised they are going.

ekidmxcl · 16/06/2020 15:08

I wrote to them more than 10 years ago saying they needed to do good quality basics really well and not random ugly stuff that is really expensive.

In the activewear section right now, the first items is a dirty green/purple swimming costume that wouldn't suit anyone. 55 quid for that monstrosity. No way - I'd just get a cheap one from Sainsbury's in a bigger size so it wouldn't be too short. Not great, but better than 55 quid.

Then there is a purple fleece with a very weird zipped neck. The fleece is OK but the neck really put me off.

Red hoody and tracksuit bottoms that would suit a 5 year old at christmas.

That stuff is just the top line of activewear.

I'm just going to wear mens clothes now.

ishouldtryabiteachdayy · 16/06/2020 21:38

@ekidmxcl I use Dorothy Perkins tall. Topshop Tall, next tall, the tall collective .. I've not bought tall clothes for ages as I've been pregnant / trying to loose the baby weight.

Buggedandconfused · 16/06/2020 21:45

Any time I looked everything in my size was out of stock. Got bored of looking.

Redcrayons · 16/06/2020 21:52

I remember my first ever pair of LTS leggings which went all the way down to my ankles!

Not surprised by this though, it’s so frumpy and expensive.

wheresmymojo · 16/06/2020 21:57

@kpo Next have some longline t-shirts

thenightsky · 16/06/2020 23:42

Where am I going to get 36 inside leg jeans now (and leggings, and running tights, and yoga pants and basic black work trousers)? Sad

To be fair, they were a bit crap in quality in the past, but this last year they've improved a lot. In fact I've bought more this last 12 months than in the previous five years.

SephrinaX · 16/06/2020 23:51

Not really surprised. I've bought a couple of nice coats from there.
But they are charging silly money for things - £65 for a pair of maternity jeans - ridiculous.

Tallandall · 14/08/2020 08:11

Agree LTS had definitely lost its way in the last 2 to 5 years and it seemed they couldn’t quite decide who its target market was. Loyal older tall customers (like myself although I mainly just got basics), business customers, the american market or whether to cater for the younger trendier customers who were growing in numbers, but with the latter fashions had changed by the time LTS got them in store/online and other young fashion brands like Boohoo, Topshop and Asos were quicker off the mark and very much cheaper. But having said that I have had some great fitting items especially trousers from there over the last 20 odd years and I will be sad to see them go as no other retailers out there cater for tall, catered for myself tall and plus sized. LTS stocked clothing (for work, casual and occasion if you were lucky) in dress sizes 10-24 whereas many other retailers stop at a 16,18 or 20 (very few cater beyond a size 20 except maybe Dorothy Perkins).

Really sad for the staff as well loosing their jobs.
