Also best tinted moisturiser? In my 60s, no wrinkles as still oily, but noticing more age spots, and my almost life long dark circles are worsening Sad

I too have dark circles. I feel like I have tried lots of different concealers including the purple and green ones. I've just ordered the ordinary caffeine solution as this is supposed to be great for dark circles. It's not expensive either so it's worth a try

1forAll74 · 16/06/2020 14:23

I wish I could find a solution also. I have tried a few concealer things, but they seem to somehow accentuate the problem and look worse.
Years ago, when I went somewhere special for the evening, I used to do the slices of cucumber thing over my eyes,to freshen the under eye area, but it wasn't a solution really.. I have decided that it is hereditary,ha ha, as my sister, and my late Mother had the same problems.

SomeBunnyOvertheRainbow · 16/06/2020 14:28

OP I find a corrector helps more than concealer. You can put concealer on top if that helps it look mite natural.

@mrsfury I don’t think purple and green concealer will help. You need a pinky or orangey tone to cancel out the blue/purple shadows.

I think water can help, and sleep obviously, but they are largely hereditary as @1forAll74 says

By Terry Touché Veloutee. It's bloody amazing.

mrsfury · 16/06/2020 14:32

I was told by a make up artist that green and purple are to cover redness and dark eyes. Not sure which way around. I will try to find a pink/orange. All suggestions are welcome

Lowlandsea · 16/06/2020 14:35

I'm a makeup artist
For you I would recommend bare minerals bareskin complete coverage concealer. It's full coverage with a dewy finish so will not cake in lines. It looks the most natural without looking dry, or heavy.

Zoey92 · 16/06/2020 14:37

Loreal infallible is a good one

roundturnandtwohalfhitches · 16/06/2020 14:47

I am 50 and have terrible dark circles, its genetic and I have bought everything under the sun over the years. I like the Collection lasting perfection concealer (v cheap) and Illuminating complexion fix over the top if extra is needed (from beauty and the boutique). Best thing overall that made a difference is the Niod Fractionated eye contour concentrate. It reduced dark circles, puffiness and lines. That's the same brand as The Ordinary but for me was far better that the Caffeinated eye stuff but more expensive. Its £43 but sometimes you can find discounts. A tiny bottle lasts months though as you only need a tiny drop. Takes a few weeks to start working.

I have terrible dark circles, too. I'm 50. I find the Ordinary's Caffeine Solution does help a bit, then I use the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. I put a little on the corner of each eye then pat it gently down along that line where the skin seems to start sagging inwards, if you know where I mean. I hope that makes sense!

I've never found anything 100% but this seems to disguise the worst of the darkness as well as that inward sagging.

TheCanterburyWhales · 16/06/2020 15:01

Bobbie Brown corrector and concealer.
Most eye products with "brightening" will do something but not work miracles.

SomeBunnyOvertheRainbow · 16/06/2020 15:21

@mrsfury It’s basically colours opposite one another on a colour wheel so

Green hides red
Orange covers blue
Yellow covers purple
Purple brightens yellow tones...

I also like the Nars creamy concealer but the best on I have tried is the make up forever hd ultra. Unfortunately it is not available in the UK now and I don’t know what colour I am as it rubbed off!

Lurkingforawhile · 16/06/2020 15:50

I have very bad "dark circles" although in fact mine are a brown colour and definitely pigmentation. I'm still struggling to find a solution, the only thing that works for me is being more tanned which isn't a great skin care idea. Once at uni someone described them as like a black eye, and I was so upset. I'm now so paranoid I wouldn't leave the house / take a video call without concealer.

emma6776 · 16/06/2020 19:16

I don’t find the Nars concealer creamy - it’s the driest I’ve ever used.

I have extreme dark circles (to the point I’ve been asked if my OH is violent in the past). The only concealers that works well for me are Estée Lauder doublewear which has now been discontinued so I’ve been madly buying up stock and Clinique all about eyes - also recently discontinued. Beginning to feel like the beauty industry dislike me ConfusedConfused

Theseptemberissues · 16/06/2020 19:22

Mine are truly terrible.. like a pp, I’ve been asked a few times if I’ve been punched, asked do I have an iron deficiency..
The only thing that has improved them is having is having Sunekos (injectable). I highly rate IT cosmetics concealer though.

onwheels · 16/06/2020 19:54

i have dark circles which contrast so much with my very pale skin, i have deep set eyes too which makes it even worse.

i honestly don't think any really conceal without there being some difference to skin on the two areas. just a bit of product to take the edge off is what i do.

i've had good results with a peachy toned corrector.

Smallgoon · 16/06/2020 20:11

Tarte shape tape is the best concealer I've ever used... is it quite thick though. A damp beauty sponge helps!

CookieDoughKid · 16/06/2020 20:15

Hands down Benefit
boi-ing brightening concealer. It really covers dark circles and neutralises the dark purple blue eye bag

CookieDoughKid · 16/06/2020 20:17

Also NYX is outstanding and on sale too!! www.nyxcosmetics.co.uk/face/concealer/dark-circle-concealer/NYX_133.html

SlothRunner · 16/06/2020 20:25

NYX and also Revolution Pro which is v v cheap in Superdrug, but the best I have found

BaconAndAvocado · 16/06/2020 20:53

I use IT cosmetics ByeBye Undereye in a pot.

I apply it before my foundation, IT CC cream. It works well for me and I have very dark circles.

TableNiner · 16/06/2020 22:32

There’s loads of good concealer products on the market as mentioned, I’d definitely suggest trying a corrector underneath to make the difference

SomeBunnyOvertheRainbow · 16/06/2020 23:47

Benefit boi-ing brightening concealer

This works for me but more of a corrector and it has a creamy texture that is a bit unusual

StealthNinjaMum · 02/07/2020 12:05

I’m just resurrecting this old thread because it inspired me me to the ordinary caffeine solution. It arrived last Friday.

Because it’s lockdown and I don’t see anyone I have been putting it under just one eye and rubbing it in. To my surprise it has made a difference- the dark patches under one eye are smaller. They’re still bad but it’s only been five days. I will keep going just doing one eye until I have to see people again - and I will probably buy everything else mentioned in the thread too!

Thank you to posters who recommended it.
