Summer Sales - is it me?

PersonaNonGarter · 15/06/2020 16:12

Had emails this week from several of my favourite shops, Net-a-Porter, etc. All saying that their summer sales are here or coming (‘Make your wish list!’).

Normally, I would be excited - especially as I have money to spend that would otherwise have gone on Pret lunches in the last few months - but this sales time I am just not. I am not going to weddings, on holiday etc and even though I love to shop for clothes for their own sake... I can’t get into it. This is not like me.

Anyone else feeling the same? Just not into getting new stuff?

I know exactly what you mean. Had a look online and everything seemed a bit meh, just can't get excited about the bargains. Sheilding for 13 weeks has just ruined my bargain hunting . There doesn't seem to be any joy in buying new clothes. Even food shopping has become depressing, normally I'd get excited about cakes and chocolates but nope it's not doing anything.

Me too! I spent a while on Sunday window shopping online and I was just so bored with a lot of the offerings. Nothing seemed new or must have. I’ve ended up actually buying some wardrobe basics though over the last few months so my wardrobe seems to have grown more because I can make more outfits with what I already have. I’m normally too distracted with shiny new things to remember the growing list of basics I actually need.

Meh is exactly it! And yy to just not feeling it for shiny new things! Normally SNT are all I am about, especially during sales.

I can’t really tell how much of this is me, right now. is very cloudy and depressing today, plus I went out to get a coffee and the streets were so empty and unfun. Just can’t get my shopping mojo.

Annoyingly, I still have my cake mojo GrinCake

I've put on weight during lockdown so I don't want to buy stuff now only for it to be too big in a few months! Like you say, we're not going anywhere so I think I'd rather save the money for now.

botemp · 15/06/2020 17:26

The sales aren't even very good, they seem later than usual, less on offer and the discounts aren't big. The majority of things on my wishlist aren't even on sale. I usually tend to buy less in summer anyhow but I'm not very inclined at all now.

I got very excited about snagging some Vejas for £37.50 from Net A Porter this morning!

PersonaNonGarter · 15/06/2020 17:43

I put on weight so fast At the start of lockdown I nearly needed a new wardrobe.

Just seen the BBC pics of people flocking to Primark and Foot Locker (Confused do these people not have the internet?) so maybe there are people out there still game for the SNT.

I don’t get the queuing for Primark opening either Confused

I got an Issey Miyake dress 40% off in the Matches sale. I'm really pleased with it.

I've been tempted finally after buying nothing since February. I've bought a summer jumper from Toast and a pair of snakeskin effect loafers from Rogue Matilda (both shops I only buy from in the sales). Jumper has been worn pretty much continually since I bought it but not sure when I'll get to wear the shoes, takes the joy out of it really.

On the other hand I have been buying masses for the house so if anything I'm spending more!
