Bra and knickers - how many are needed for a "capsule" wardrobe?

I am going to treat myself to new bras and knickers - mine are an absolute state. So...how many bras and knickers (and what colours) do we think are "needed" for a decent wardrobe?

Personally I have around 6 bras. Both black and white bras are a must, as well as a t shirt bra, a dressy bra and a couple of comfy ones.

I always wear black knickers - I buy multipacks at M&S every year or so in different styles. So I probably have around 20-25 pairs.

Nude bra, black, some pretty ones, a strapless and a sports bra

About 10 of each because of summer.

X1 nude
X2 white
X1 strapless

Enough knickers for a 2 week holiday.

Nude is better than white, it doesn’t show through clothes

Bras-Depends on what type of tops you wear and if you exercise.
Knickers- depends on how often you do the washing.

It depends on your skin colour. I'm freckly pale so a nude colour is much better than a stark white bra which can be seen under clothes. Due to weight loss, I currently only have 1 black & 1 nude that fit well, and several others convertible types, strapless, coloured types which don't fit so well. Underwear, I have 3 full boomers that I use if I have a massage/see the osteopath, otherwise wear a much smaller G string. Maybe 7 pairs of those.

Currently have 3 nude 2 white and 1 black bra
At least 10 pairs of knickers per bra

Strapless and plunge styles are must haves

I mainly wear black underwear - no nude or white. I have sets of “nice” underwear, which are coloured, otherwise seven black bras (all Freya), and a drawer full of black knickers - shorts, Brazilian, and thongs (M&S). I don’t have a strapless bra or a sports bra.

What's a dressy bra?

One white, two nude and two black bras, a couple of sports bras and a selection of knickers.

I have around 12 bras mainly black but red, silver and purple are in there.

I probably have about a dozen bras. Colours range from pretty pastels, to red, blue and black plus multicoloured. I usually buy 2 pairs of matching knix (often different styles, if available) when a buy a new bra. Plus l have extra knix; l like the Brazilian style.

I always aspire to match; it’s part of my feel good factor. That said, l don’t always achieve it.

I don’t do white or so called “nude” (the latter looks like cardboard to me), it reminds me of my school days. Pink and surprisingly red are subtle with clothes wear a bra can be seen. The red tends to mis with the lighter colour to make a pink. Try it!

It does depend on what clothes you wear as well though. For example I never wear strapless tops so I don't have any need for a strapless bra, and I never wear white or light tops so I don't need white or nude.

What other clothes are going to be in the capsule? I'd say you need about 3-5 bras but it will depend on what they are going underneath.

I do as pp above said, I threw out all my old pants in one go and bought 3 packs of 5 comfy ones from M and S. Best things I ever did clothes wise I think!

To add to earlier post. I gave up on strapless bras years ago. Instead l go for pretty contrasting straps.

I personally find it depends on how you dress throughout the year, as well as how often you do laundry.

It's winter where I am now, I mostly wear dark clothes so am wearing mostly black bras. I have 4-5 black bras, we do laundry every 2-3 days so I have plenty to be able to wear a clean one every day.

I tend to wear lighter colours in summer, so have about 4-5 nude bras as well. 2 of these are convertible (i.e. I can wear them with or without the straps). This means I can wear them with summer tops or dresses when I don't want the straps to be visible.

I have 4 every day bras 2 nude & 2 black underwired, plus 2 black sports bras & 1 black strapless bra.
All from M&S. I wash them a lot!
I would get more if I could afford to.
I'm restricted on shape & colour as I'm a 32G.

For pants I just get packs of lacy cotton ones from M&S- either black or pale depends on what I'm wearing.

I probably have about 18 pairs of pants?

2 x Blubella black lace bras and matching knickers for best
1 x green lace hush set,
Blue, Back and multi nearly best sets, each with 2 pr knickers
1 x M&S black autograph set
2 x coloured M&S every day sets, each with 2 pr knickers.
Mulberry and Gold Kin bra, 2 pr knickers for Christmas.
3 comfy crop tops for leisure days
2 x Ann Summers lacy sets, red and purple, each with 2 pr knickers.
approx 20 pairs of plain black knickers for gym every day etc.
I don't think that I've actually got that much!

I have no need for white or nude underwear as i don't wear white or see through clothes.

7 bras - 2x black, 2x nude, 1x navy, 1x red, 1 white.
3 pairs of matching pants for each bra.

8x full-brief 'comfy' pants in black and nude.
