Women's suits

I'm starting a new job in a few months and need a couple of appropriate suits. I'm thinking one navy and one grey (preferably a light/mid grey rather than charcoal). Ideally I'd like a blazer, trousers and skirt for each.

I'm looking for suits that will look nice but also be wearable and comfy for long days in the office. I'll be wearing a suit around 3 days each week and I'd like something that's a bit more quality than high street. My budget is around £300-400 per suit.

I think my main options are:

  1. Cheaper - wool-blend from Banana Republic. ~£300 but often on sale for 30% off.
  2. Mid-price - wool-blend from Reiss. £450 for the whole suit but currently on sale for £300.
  3. More expensive - 98% wool from Theory or Hugo Boss. I'd need to wait until they went on sale but, if they did, I could get blazer and trousers for £400.

I'd also be more than happy to buy second-hand (my preferred option to be honest) but I've checked eBay and a few other sites and can't seem to find anything!

Sorry for the slightly rambling post. Does anybody has any opinion on which of these (or any other options!) would be best in terms of quality for money and longevity? The brands listed are ones that have been recommended to me but if there are any others worth checking out, please let me know too. My main question is whether the higher priced options will be worthwhile in terms of lasting for years and overall being a better fit and better fabric?
