Does purple hair shampoo turn your hair purple? I'm blonde and want to try it but a bit scared!! Grin

Depends how long you leave it on for

CrypticQueen · 10/06/2020 23:11

If you get a dark purple shampoo and leave it on a few minutes it can (esp. if your hair is bleached). But unlikely if you shampoo and rinse straight away.

InflagranteDelicto · 10/06/2020 23:12

Depends which one. There's a schwarzkopf one in a blue tube which has a cumulative effect, I have a purple fringe, where it's only taken on the grey. Took about 5 days of use to become obvious.

MummaPI · 10/06/2020 23:13

I dont want purple hair though, I've heard its good for blonde hair

Depends on how blonde ur hair is and the purple shampoo, tell us what purple shampoo it is and a pic of ur hair would help.

lineandsinker · 10/06/2020 23:23

I have bleached blonde hair and use A Touch of Silver purple shampoo once a week to keep the colour from going brassy. I leave it on for 3 minutes and rinse. Not even a hint of purple here!

custardcat85 · 10/06/2020 23:31

I have bleached blonde hair. I use the L'Oreal purple shampoo and conditioner. I left the shampoo on once for a few minutes and noticed I had pale purple streaks in parts the next day! Just make sure you rinse straight away and you will be fine. Alternatively, I find Johnny Frieda Go Blonder is amazing. Can definitely tell the difference when I have used it 😊

*John not Johnny 😂

Babypug · 10/06/2020 23:37

I use purple shampoo once a week to clean hair. Use wella from the hairdressers- doesn't turn hair purple, just use as you would normally.

I have always use the touch of silver purple shampoo about once a week, I leave it on for upto 10 minutes, my hair is coloured blonde and has never turned purple. Leaves it a lovely white /platinum colour

Anon22 · 11/06/2020 00:17

I can leave it on for a hour or so without ending up looking like an evil minion.

MummaPI · 14/06/2020 19:54

Ok I've ordered the bleach london shampoo and conditioner. Do I have to do a skin and strand test for these?

OP posts:
CrypticQueen · 14/06/2020 23:24

I’ve never heard of doing a skin test for a shampoo. Just wash and rinse. And if your hair does go a little bit purple, just wash it again in regular shampoo - really not a big deal. Also, I presume you are trying to knock out yellowness? If you’re not, and you’re fine with the existing colour, I don’t know why you’re bothering if it’s so nerve wracking.

dementedpixie · 14/06/2020 23:25

I have a purple shampoo that tells you to do a skin test. Think its salon strength. I also have bog standard ones from the supermarket

Mnthrowaway20202 · 14/06/2020 23:27

If your hair is damaged it may stain purple (temporarily)

RosieProbert · 14/06/2020 23:34

I use the bleach london product and I can leave the shampoo o my hair neat for over an hour with no purple colour residue on my hair.

winterisstillcoming · 14/06/2020 23:35

I use Schwarzkopf on my bleached brown hair to take out the brassiness and give it ashy tones. Works a treat. I'd say try it. Just do a bit underneath to start of with and see what happens.

MummaPI · 15/06/2020 07:20

Thanks all, very helpful.Smile

crypticqueen not nerve wrecking, just have questions (you sound fun)

OP posts:
Ardessa · 15/06/2020 07:27

If you have golden blonde/brassy hair (or lots of natural red) purple shampoo balances this out making the blonde more ashy. I absolutely swear by it, it revives your blonde hair.

CrypticQueen · 15/06/2020 22:31

Kind of rude OP. I bothered to post twice on your thread and pass on my experience ... Hmm But as it happens I am fun, so I’ll take it in the spirit it was not intended.
