Anyone else doesn't put make up on to save having to take it off at night?

Hi there. I hope I'm not the only one who often doesn't put make up on because I hate having to take it off at night (even though I use coconut oil so it's a quick affair). I'm now only wearing make up once or twice a week. And if I do, I do a full face because since I would have to take it off even if it were just mascara I might as well go all out. Anyone else?

Yup! I wore makeup every day when I was working, but having retired a few months ago I never put it on if I'm not going out anywhere (which is obviously most of the time right now). But like you, a full face if I am, and the daft thing is I enjoy doing it when I do.

I do cleanse my face every night whether I've got makeup on or not, but it's much more of a drag (not literally) when I have. I always head off to bed with a much lighter heart if I haven't!!

AlexChitChatting · 10/06/2020 15:09

When I used to put make up on most days, on the days when I didn't, and at bed time I remembered I didn't have any on so I didn't have to take it off, I almost skipped upstairs!

@Feedingthebirds1

I am exactly the same since retiring. I sometimes put face make up on then no mascara as I can’t be arsed to take it off.

I wore make up every single day to work.

Smoothasababy · 10/06/2020 23:59

I’ve cut down a lot. I look better with make-up on but I love not wearing it.

How do you find coconut oil as a cleanser OP? I have dry & acne-prone skin ... wonder would it suit me?

AbsolutePleasure · 11/06/2020 00:01

I never wear it.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 11/06/2020 08:47

Me! I always hated the chore of having to take make up off when all I wanted to do was roll into bed, and I'm loving not "having" to wear it so I don't have to.

Although, oddly, not only I have started to prefer my naked face (last couple of times I wore make up I thought I looked fake and weird) but I've started taking more time before bed to cleanse anyway. But at least I'm not spending ages trying to take off the tubing mascara that was the only one I've found not to smudge but was as a result very hard to shift...Confused

Completely! I don't like taking stuff off at night so if I can, I do avoid putting make up on. I do like a nice lipstick, some brow make up, eyeliner. Some blush if I remember! I don't wear anymore than that if popping out to say shop or an errand (if I use any!). Now, need some light powder to soak up shininess now weather warmer. But I can't be bothered with foundation - the rigamarole of cleaning it off. Also naturally, I don't really like wearing much on my skin - like to keep it natural.

SarahMcDonald · 11/06/2020 09:12

Me too, why on Earth would I create another chore for myself ? I have enough to do.

Haworthia · 11/06/2020 09:15

I still double cleanse my face at night whether I’ve been wearing make up or not, so it makes so difference to me.

Won’t lie though, I haven’t missed putting make up on in the mornings. Still use a tinted moisturiser thigh, because I do look like shit without foundation and that helps to tone the redness down slightly.

DameXanaduBramble · 11/06/2020 09:24

Please don't use coconut oil to cleanse if you have bad skin. It’s comedogenic.

Smoothasababy · 11/06/2020 14:07

Thanks @DameXanaduBramble I didn't realise it's comedogenic - it has mixed reviews.

diazapamdependent · 11/06/2020 14:13

Yep. It's the mascara for me. So hard to get off properly. Just can't be arsed to get it off again.

ppeatfruit · 11/06/2020 14:24

This is weird because yesterday I put a full face of make up on Shock No foundation just a delicate SPF 25 powder (I haven't done for months) for a Zoom meeting with 4 of my old college friends! I'm glad I did! These screens are not flattering to my usually pasty white face Grin
Dh did comment I looked pretty, which obviously meant that I don't usually Hmm .Grin

yes I hate taking it off

lifestooshort123 · 11/06/2020 14:32

I always put brows on in the morning and then a nude lippy if I go out which I have to remember to take off if I mask up. About once a fortnight I'm so bored I do the full face thing and enjoy having a good paint - never mascara though, hate taking it off so I dye my lashes.

MrsFogi · 11/06/2020 14:33

I put it on but don't take it off at night Grin.

Boopear · 11/06/2020 14:37

Oooh, yes, this is me. Although the thrill has been lost a bit now as I don't wear make up most days now I am WFH. Now I really really resent having to take it off when I do wear some!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 11/06/2020 14:40

I've tried dying my lashes and brows - have it done professionally (pre-corona, obs) and I've done it myself. It seems to make no damn difference.

ppeatfruit · 11/06/2020 14:41

What's with the 'caterpillar' look for eyebrows? I'm actually growing my brows during lockdown and can't quite work out why Grin I'm not sure I like the look either Grin Especially the thick black ones with blonde hair.

doadeer · 11/06/2020 17:08

I don't wear a lot of make up these days, I do the same night time routine regardless of whether I've worn make up or not I always double cleanse. I've noticed since I've started doing more attention on my skincare regime I actually don't need to wear foundation anymore

mymadworld · 11/06/2020 17:13

I hate removing mascara but cleanse and hot flannel anyway so still use my amazing Trinny London BFF cream so even skin tone, quick blush on cheeks and Vaseline to smooth brows and for lips. Loving this new regime

Splattherat · 11/06/2020 17:14

I rarely wear make up apart from blusher to give me some colour. But I really really hate remove mascara with a passion so only wear that a handful of times a year.

Livedandlearned · 11/06/2020 17:29

Can someone explain double cleansing to me? I'd like to try it but I don't want to irritate my skin, I have slight rosacea that sometimes makes an appearance.

troppibambini · 11/06/2020 17:47

Yep I've stopped wearing it. I love makeup and putting it on but I hate taking it off.
@Livedandlearned double cleansing is just using two different products to cleanse your face. I only double cleanse at night when I've been wearing make up, I use an oil based cleanser or balm with a flannel or muslin and warm water followed by another cleanse with a creamier cleanser and a warm cloth again followed by serums, moisturiser oil or whatever I'm using.

@troppibambini that sounds simple, thank you
