Looking for a casual jacket for in-between seasons

What jackets are you all wearing at the moment? I really need something for this in-between weather...I only have a down-filled jacket, leather jacket (style of this is a bit too smart for every day) and a denim jacket.
Would love something a bit longer, say mid thigh length, shower proof, hood would be a bonus, generally go for navy/black/olive colour but open for something different!
Any suggestions that might fit the bill?

A "Protected Species" parka/mac? www.protected-species.com/
Not cheap, but very very lovely waterproof jackets. MNet often have a discount/deal thing going so may be worth keeping an eye out if you're keen.

Second vote for protected species. I finally invested in the mac and its wonderful. Got it on Secret Sales so saved a bit of £, worth keeping an eye on there

I have a khaki thin parka with a hood among 8 million other coats and jackets!!🙈

WrinklesShminkles · 08/06/2020 15:03

I've got this one which I really like, I think it may come in every colour you mentioned Grin

I have the Chalk Grey one though.

Haha @oohnicevase it was seeing DH's 8 million coats and jackets that made me think it was time to get myself something suitable for this time of year Grin

Thanks for the suggestions, love the look of the Protected Species jackets, might just have to treat myself! What is the sizing like, they look quite loose fitting on the website photos?

Sorry meant to tag @Boopear & @afrikat re sizing Smile

@givememarmite Ooh, def big. I'm a very booby 14 (sometimes 16 on top) and the 12-14 Parka was perfect sizing. Couldn't wear loads of bulky jumpers underneath, but certainly enough space for a t-shirt/merino jumper (+ boobs!)

givememarmite · 08/06/2020 20:35

That's great, thanks @Boopear. I'm going to order the commuter in olive green I think. Will report back!

I'm a large 12 and find the 12 very comfortable, if not slightly roomy. It's just about right for me with space for a sweater but I'd say if you are between sizes I'd probably size down
Hope it works out, I honestly love mine 😄

My jacket arrived yesterday (v quick seeing as I'm not in the UK!) and I only got round to trying it on today...it's perfect! The fabric is fantastic and I love the cut, deep pockets and the colour. Thanks so much for the recommendation @Boopear & @afrikat I would never have come across this brand otherwise. Have a Wineon me!

Can anyone show me a pic of them in their protected species coat? Thinking of getting one...

Bluemoooon · 14/06/2020 07:05

I think they're loose because they don't have a warm lining like usual parkas so there's space for a jumper if you need one. But v smart imv.

Boopear · 14/06/2020 10:27

@givememarmite So glad you liked it! Grin
