I'm definitely a solid 16 now due to being a lockdown piglet.

I'm stuck in a rut of jeans and a t shirt or leggings and jumper and I'm looking to buy some new bits with some cash I've saved by staying in.

Hoped other 16s would like to congregate and share ideas!

I'm a 16 too and am a definite jumpsuit fan. I find them really comfy to wear and quite flattering. The only thing is you have to make sure they are easy to get in and out of when you go to the loo.

Batshittery · 06/06/2020 17:49

Watching with interest. The fact that you have to virtually get undressed for the toilet puts me off jumpsuits, but I like the look of them

Muminabun · 06/06/2020 18:00

Next online has tons of other brands on there as well as next so good for different budgets and sizes. I am a really curvy and tallish 16 and I love the look of jumpsuits but they just don’t go on me and I find them uncomfortable. Choose your favorite current items op and buy clothes in a similar style. Build your wardrobe around similar stuff so you will actually wear it and develop a style. This has saved me a lot of money

Bridecilla · 06/06/2020 18:00

I'd love to wear a jumpsuit but unfortunately I have a really horrible belly overhang (attractive eh?) and look like I'm wearing a nappy in them

I don’t do jumpsuits either as they seem to emphasise the length of my body between waist and bum which makes my bum look even more saggy than it already is. (Slopes off to eat some comforting biscuits...)Grin

Livingthecovidaloca · 06/06/2020 18:34

A solid 16 here too... love my Hush Kensington’s, though they’re 14s, because Hush!

Bella2020 · 06/06/2020 18:47

Suze 16 here. I love midi skirts with a fitted, plain top. I don't tuck the tops in, though. That just wouldn't suit me at all, but I think it would work for others.
I also like trousers that finish just above the ankle. Well, they do say to highlight the slimmest part of your body!

SpeedofaSloth · 06/06/2020 18:50

Sadly about to join you, been 14 for ages but definitely creeping up.

I like the look of jumpsuits but I fear I would stray into Telly tubby territory as I am thick about the middle.

dementedma · 06/06/2020 18:51

16 here. Cropped trousers (i think they are called cigarette pants or some such bollox) as i have slim ankles. I would love to wear fitted shirts for work but norks are too big. Wrap dresses are quite flattering if I have to get dressed up a bit. anything which hides the tummy is good for me. The rest I can live with

SpeedofaSloth · 06/06/2020 18:54

I do like cigarette pants with a tailored shirt, I have just bought a couple of new ones. Only Joules and a bit twee but a good price on eBay.

Foreverme82 · 07/06/2020 11:49

I'm a size 16 and I've been living in funky printed leggings from www.happycatclothing.co.uk during lockdown. They're fab - so comfy and they have a high waistband that helps to hold everything in! The designs are also great, so you can still wear leggings but feel good doing it!!

Bridecilla · 08/06/2020 14:32

I keep seeing Uniqlo being recommended. Has anyone bought from there?

criminallyvulgar · 08/06/2020 15:43

I placed my first order with Uniqlo last week - they recommended XL to fit a 16. I've ordered some loose fitting tshirts and a cotton dress. I'll report back on fit when they arrive.
I've put on nearly 20 pounds since this time last year and gone from a 14 to a 16 so have done a little shopping in the Boden clearance sale as well. I got two jumpsuits which actually look pretty good although I've had zero occasion to wear them yet so what was I actually thinking. I also got a tunic dress that I've been wearing with leggings that is really nice. And I got some nice patterned wide leg trousers in the Roman Originals sale. I really recommend taking a browse through the Boden clearance stuff - there were some really nice dresses that I had to sit on my hands to stop myself buying.

Myneighboursnorlax · 08/06/2020 15:51

@Foreverme82 those leggings look amazing! I need the squirrel ones... 😮

Hippofrog · 08/06/2020 16:39

Does anyone know where to get casual A line dresses from or skirts? I carry my weight in my bum and legs and I can’t find anything !

OneOfTheGrundys · 08/06/2020 17:08

Venice Beach dress from hush. Plus leggings/footless tights.
And pants are everything for the belly hang. The biggest, cottoniest, highest waisted you can find.

OneOfTheGrundys · 08/06/2020 17:08

Sorry not aline.

criminallyvulgar · 08/06/2020 18:11

Uniqlo have A line dresses.

LauraPalmerViolet · 08/06/2020 18:45

I’ve started dressing really differently in the last few years and am really enjoying it. I used to live in skinny jeans and Breton tops and was definitely stuck in a bit of a style rut! But for a while now I’ve been wearing high waisted, full midi skirts and either mom jeans or high waist or paper bag waisted trousers. Often in prints or bright colours and mostly with a soft t shirt tucked in and a crop denim jacket or crop cardigan. Easy to hide the post kids pouch tummy! Its made me feel pretty happy and definitely more interesting :)

Foreverme82 · 09/06/2020 22:20

@Myneighboursnorlax I have those ones (though I do have quite a few pairs now!)!!...I love them! :-)

ineedto · 10/06/2020 00:36

Size 16, apple with a hint of hourglass and tummy overhang... writing this I feel relieved to have DH as my tinder profile description would be grim Blush.

Love Hush Kensington dresses... have several colours and both long and short sleeves. Size down to a 14.
New look, topshop and boden good for midi shirt dresses.
Mint velvet spot tie blouse super flattering.
Peg leg trousers, straight leg or flared jeans.
Good old white T-shirt/blazer combo.
