Retinol in face products

Is anyone else fed up with having to search through lists of ingredients to work out the percentage strength of retinol in face products? The new Boots No 7 Advanced Retinol 1.5% complex night concentrate for example.....which you might think would contain, errr, 1.5% retinol? But no, its not: "Our next generation 1.5% Retinol complex has been expertly formulated to harness the power of retinol, giving great results whilst being gentle on the skin. 0.3% Pure Retinol...". I know there are all different types of retinoids, but why are they making it so hard? Boots are not the only ones doing it. I don't think this kind of labelling helps, and the cynic in me says it is downright misleading?

Also I’ve read about its benefits but also read that it should be avoided. So what’s the consensus?

Just buy the ordinary retinol. Much cheaper.
