Diane Von Fusternberg dress - hot or not?

Before all this (you know what) I picked up a DVF wrap dress in a charity shop for £6. It is the classic style, 100% pure silk and a nice print.

I was surprised to see they sell for about £200 - 300 mark when I looked it up at home.

But, what I don't know is if they are still a classic to be worn or if they are a bit old fashioned?

What do you think?

Oooh I had that one from the DVF shop in Wimbledon village back in the day!! Gave it away post kids. If it's mine, it looks way better on you! Lovely.

Anon20201 · 03/06/2020 23:16

You look stunning. Can’t believe it’s £6! I wan’t to know which charity shop now lol!

Pieceofpurplesky · 03/06/2020 23:26

You look amazing in it but I don't like the print

MistressGammon · 03/06/2020 23:30

Looks lovely, great find!

BammBamm · 04/06/2020 01:54

Gorgeous OP!

managedmis · 04/06/2020 02:05

Er, it's amazing

WildCherryBlossom · 04/06/2020 09:11

Oh wow! You look fantastic. It's gorgeous.

LizzieMacQueen · 04/06/2020 09:33

Someone once told me that you tie the waist belt as you would a neck tie (hope this is making sense) then it sits flatter to the body.

VictoriaBun · 04/06/2020 09:35

Great , fits you like a glove.

Splodgetastic · 04/06/2020 09:37

Nice. I had to charity shop a DvF I bought online when I realised my knockers could not cope with this style - too complicated!

MulberryPeony · 04/06/2020 09:41

Great buy. Enjoy wearing it.

Bertucci · 04/06/2020 09:41

It looks great on you.

Having said that, wrap dresses in this style are really dated.

CaMePlaitPas · 04/06/2020 09:49

Great find! Congratulations OP. Enjoy wearing it - you look fab!

IdblowJonSnow · 04/06/2020 09:49

I like it and I like wrap dresses. They suit me too (I think) I dont think it looks dated.
One thing tho, I thought u said it was pink but it looks really dark? I need to check your op...

IdblowJonSnow · 04/06/2020 09:50

Looks like I made the pink thing up! Blush

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 04/06/2020 10:22

Thanks everyone - when I look at the website there are more modern and fresh ones. But I do like this one and your comments have encouraged me to wear it.

It would be so amazing if it was the one that gower4 donated! I would love that! Also thanks LizzieMacQueen that was useful advice because I didn't know at all.

Have lovely days everyone!

Great find - I don't agree that it's timeless, in fact I think it looks very much of its time. But it will come round again and again and besides, in a couple more years it'll qualify as vintage, and then you'll have a free pass to wear it anywhere and forever Grin

They're so much nicer in silk too. I would have snapped it up.

Ninkanink · 04/06/2020 10:34

Agree with flo it is of its time of course (most things are!) but that doesn’t matter - that’s what I mean when I say something is timeless.

dontgobaconmyheart · 04/06/2020 11:28

Another that doesn't agree it is 'timeless' the shape and print are dated, it isn't currently in fashion. I think it's a valid point though that following fashion is not the only indicator of what looks good. It fits you well, looks very good on you OP and was a bargain at £6 (though only if you actually wear it!)

alittlequinnie · 04/06/2020 12:05

I've got a few DVF wrap dresses and a couple of shirt dresses. I LOVE them - I like the 70's style prints and the fact that they are silk so you don't get the static cling.

I get all mine on ebay and usually pay between £50-£100 for them - whenever I wear them to work I always get a lot of compliments.

My favourite are the ones with the collar. I like to wear a long necklace that sits under the collar.

I find they fit really well and I don't need to use a pin to hold them together or anything - I too tie them like a neck tie and I am very very careful to make sure the belt lies flat all around.

Can you tell I'm a fan!!!

WildCherryBlossom · 04/06/2020 12:55

Yes @LizzieMcQueen I always do waist ties like a neck tie so that they sit smooth and flat. It works well and easy to adjust.

Some people might suit a great big bow on the waist but not me.

Splodgetastic · 04/06/2020 13:24

The problem I had with mine was that it looked positively indecent on me. I couldn’t work out if it was because it was too big or too small or my knockers were just too high up for it! Do most people wear a vest underneath?
