Love Sainsbury’s TU range but...

I love Sainsbury’s TU clothes range- find items can look really lovely and high quality for a low price (especially work wear)- and I think it’s quite fashionable- I say that as a 30yr old! I enjoy browsing round the big range in my local store.

However...does anyone else find the sizing ridiculous?!

I’m normally a size 8-10 in shops (never a size 6) BUT in TU I often can’t fit the size 8s as they are so big and there aren’t any size 6s in my local store.

Rant over- just so frustrating when I love their clothes!

They are generously sized and the trousers generally fit my chunky legs well. I am a size smaller in Sainsbury’s than most other shops.

sonjadog · 02/06/2020 22:10

I don´t find them consistently too big, but I do find their sizing rather random. Some times I can size down 2-3 sizes, some times there seems to be no size that is big enough to fit! Certainly, nothing can be bought without trying on first.

Milkywaysdays · 02/06/2020 22:14

@sonjadog good point- you just reminded me of the time I tried on a button up (non-stretchy) shift dress from TU and couldn’t get a single button done up it was so tight 😂.

So maybe fairer to say I find they usually size really big, but occasionally it goes the other way!

The colour washes out of their boys jogging bottoms terribly one wash and it turned into something you wouldn't even consider for a charity shop I sent them photos they told me they were clearly last years they were from last week 🤣 I told them I wouldnt buy joggers from there again and I bloody havent (I do still buy but never ever jogging bottoms)

But yes the sizing is way out definitely try before you buy

BillyAndTheSillies · 02/06/2020 22:30

I'm the exact opposite, I wear an 18 everywhere, but I bought a skirt in Sainsbury's at Christmas and had to buy a 22!

It's put me off because I can never try stuff on in store because I usually have the kids with me. But I find their children's clothes to be sized perfectly and wash really well.

bloodyhellsbellsx · 02/06/2020 22:36

Yeah the sizes are definitely on the larger side! Although I wasnt complaining when a couple months postpartum I fitted in a size 8 dress from there Grin

Milkywaysdays · 02/06/2020 22:37

@BillyAndTheSillies you clearly got unlucky with one of their rare ‘under sized’ items (like the bloody shift dress where I literally couldn’t get a single button done up and my partner said I looked like a sausage bursting out of its casing 😂🙈).

I'm an 8 or a 10 in Tu clothing, DD is a 4 or 6... except I bought her a t-shirt this weekend that was a 12! No way was it going over her shoulders (she's all of 5'3"!!).

YurtleTheTurtle · 02/06/2020 22:51

There tips are always too short!! 😢

YurtleTheTurtle · 02/06/2020 22:51

Tops! Bloody auto correct!

Rebelwithallthecause · 03/06/2020 00:27

I just ordered a tunic

It was around 2 sizes too big on the shoulders and top tight around the waist.

Very random

SingleHandSue · 03/06/2020 00:32

I haven’t bought much for myself from Tu but I have a pair of PJ shorts from there that are a size 10 that fit well. I’m pushing a size 16.

I like the sainsbury's Premium collection which you can only buy online. It's a shame that they don't sell it in store instead of the horrendous patterned fabrics they sometimes have.

I agree that the sizings are generous so often have to size down.
