SPF help - breaking me out

Tinks15 · 30/05/2020 19:47

Currently using La Roche Posay SPF as I’ve heard it’s good for blemished prone skin like mine, my skin isn’t great by any means but my skin has developed lots of under the skin white bumps & I’m sure it’s this.
Does anyone have any advice or recommend maybe a different one? I realise how important it is to wear an SPF so want to find one that suits my skin & doesn’t break me out.

Try ultrasun spf 50 mineral for face.

Paula's Choice sunscreen or the Bodyshop spf 50 face sunscreen should be safe. My skin used to break out with greasy suncreams but these are fine.

I was also going to say Ultrasun face, I've used both the factor 30 and 50 and they are great. I have rosacea and really sensitive skin.

Thank you all, I will take a look at these. I’ve seen lots of reviews for LRP saying how good it is for my type of skin but obviously not for me - my skin must be super sensitive.

I like Heliocare advanced gel, it's the only one that doesn't give me spots.

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/05/2020 20:18

I’ve had similar reactions to some sunblocks, you just never know.

I love the ultrasun one with a slight tint - it blends in my blotchiness but isn’t shiny or greasy.

Another one worth looking at is the Frezyderm one. My d (19) has quite sensitive, spot prone, fair and freckle prone skin - and she loves this. She said it feels and looks like a primer going on, she can wear it over moisturiser or under makeup and it stays put and gives a velvety finish.

Thanks very much all

@KingaRoo I’ve heard of Heliocare will look at this.

I will check the Frezyderm one out too.

I usually always wear make up so the spf would be mostly to sit under make up.

I use factor 50 Solait face cream from Superdrug. It's not greasy, soaks in and my face never burns even working outside in this sun all day. Cheapest one I've ever tried but works the best for me.

Try Alumier MD SPF - I have used it on my problem skin for 18 months daily and don't use foundation now

MrsPerfect12 · 31/05/2020 07:52

If you are wearing makeup anyway use a foundation with spf in it?

Tinks15 · 31/05/2020 08:04

@MrsPerfect12 tried that before they break me out.

LRP works for me but as someone with sensitive, acne-prone skin I came on to say that loads of people recommend Biore watery essence.

And also to say that it is really trial and error for people with skin like ours (mine is finally under control after chucking as much money as I could at a dermatologist) on the SPF front. But that there are loads of options out there which are specially formulated for oily skin.

Good luck with the hunt!

Heliocare 360 Gel Oil Free (there are lots of different ones, so make sure you specifically get that one... it's slightly tinted); or EltaMD (I get the untinted one). Both excellent
