Has anyone bought from Lost Stock to support Bangladeshi workers?

www.theguardian.com/fashion/2020/may/30/lost-stock-its-like-buying-your-future-self-a-present

I’ve just seen this article in the Guardian about this company who are selling some of the clothes ordered by high street shops, and then orders were cancelled due to coronavirus. So clothes has been made but not paid for. This company are selling some of this stock, only tops, to support the manufacturers and factory workers.

It looks like a bit of a lottery, you tell them your size, what type of colours you like and what age you are (or dress!) and for £35 +£4 p&p you get £70 worth of tops, at least 3.

I was thinking of ordering as it seems a great idea and a good cause, but I wondered if anyone had done so yet? What sort of clothes did you receive? It could be too early, I guess. I might order some stuff for my boys as they’re less fussy than me! Grin

I've ordered but I don't think any boxes have actually been delivered yet.
Wwanted to support as it seems such a good cause and went in with the mindset that I can give away anything I don't like but it's a bonus if there are some nice pieces

RNBrie · 30/05/2020 12:45

I've ordered one for me and DH and a couple of my family members have too. Delivery is 6-8 weeks so I doubt anyone has got one yet as they've only been selling them for a couple of weeks.

MillicentMartha · 30/05/2020 12:59

I thought that might be the case. We’ll have to compare boxes when they arrive. It seems like win/win, we get clothes half price, they get something back for all their cancelled orders and the clothes get worn rather than binned.

Thanks, i never heard of them will check them out.

Peridot1 · 30/05/2020 13:14

Have just had a look and ordered two boxes. One for me and one for DS.

I think it’s a great idea. Our fast fashion industry is responsible for so much pollution and our desire for cheaper and cheaper throw away fashion is keeping people in poverty in these countries.

It’s a real ‘think outside the box’ solution. Pardon the pun!

KTD27 · 30/05/2020 13:19

I have! Can’t wait to see what I get. I figure at the very least the money will be used well and if I get something I can wear then all the better

TintinandSnowy · 30/05/2020 20:59

I ordered one earlier today after reading that article in The Guardian.

I liked the fact that you can choose clothes for the age range you like to dress, rather than for your real age!

VanGoghsDog · 30/05/2020 21:11

I've ordered, and my mum, my partner and his two kids.

MillicentMartha · 30/05/2020 21:16

Well done VanGogh! I couldn’t afford that many but have ordered one for my DS.

I've done this and so have some of my local friends - have suggested a (socially-distanced) swap party when we get our boxes

Bella2020 · 30/05/2020 23:16

I just ordered a box, too. Isn't it a great way to support the factory workers with the bonus of stopping the clothes going to landfill. I picked the age group down from mine!

VanGoghsDog · 30/05/2020 23:39

@MillicentMartha

Well, I only paid for one of them, everyone else paid for their own! I just spread the word.

CoolCarrie · 30/05/2020 23:44

What a brilliant idea, will take a look tomorrow, thank you for posting the info Millicent.

MillicentMartha · 31/05/2020 02:09

I put it on FB as well and got a few takers. Smile

Swap party sounds good!

I love this - there isn't a kids option is there? I just saw people mentioning they bought it for their kids and the person who needs clothes in this household is my 7year old not me (although will get a box if I can't get kids ones!).

Floisme · 31/05/2020 09:07

Thank you for this op, great idea. Shameful behaviour though from our high street.

SockYarn · 31/05/2020 09:19

This is a brilliant idea. Have ordered one for me and one for teenage DD.

MillicentMartha · 31/05/2020 14:18

@applepinkierainbow, there is some talk in the article above about maybe doing a children’s box at some point. My ‘kid’ is 20 though! Grin

I just looked, was going to order but the sizing didn’t suit me. I’m usually a 10, but 12 thanks to lockdown. 6-8 weeks I’ll hopefully be 10 again, but daren't ask for small as it 8-10 and medium (12-14) would be too big.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 10/07/2020 12:51

@applepinkierainbow - Hope you don't mind the "@" but thought I'd let you know they're now doing kids' boxes.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 10/07/2020 12:52

I ordered 3 boxes - one for me, one for dd and one for ds1.
Hopefully they will arrive before too long.

IsMiseMorag · 10/07/2020 12:53

Has anyone had one yet? What were they like?

SockYarn · 10/07/2020 12:54

Still haven't had mine and I see from my post above it was ordered on 31st May - should be here soon if they say six weeks.

Disfordarkchocolate · 10/07/2020 12:56

Saving till payday. What a great idea.
