Heavy duty deodorant?

Mnthrowaway20202 · 28/05/2020 16:24

I don’t sweat that much nor do I smell, I’m just looking to avoid sweat patches (which sometimes ruin my lighter coloured clothes). Looking for a deodorant that leaves underarms bone dry?

Apologies for being nitpicky, but you are looking for an antiperspirant not a deoderant (just in case you are googling around)

I think sweat patches are due to an ingredient in the antiperspirant, rather than the sweat itself?

Anjelika · 28/05/2020 16:39

There are some very heavy duty ones around like Driclor which you put on every 48 hours I think it is but I cannot get on with them - the pain is too much! They irritate my armpits and sting like mad. In the heat I wear the Sure Maximum
Protection one which I use like a normal deodorant eg once or twice a day. I prefer a stick one to a roll on in any case and the rest of the year I use the Mitcham stick one. If anyone comes along with a better but non-stinging solution I'll be keen to try it.

Mnthrowaway20202 · 28/05/2020 16:44

Thanks! I’ve been using sure maximum which is both. It’s a cream texture, it used to leave my underarms dry but I think they reformulated it as it never quite dries down anymore

Mitchum is a good one, smellls like talc

Nobodyknowsbutme · 28/05/2020 16:48

Another vote for Mitchum!

PinPon · 28/05/2020 16:48

I use Mitchum roll on - effective and smells nice.

DramaAlpaca · 28/05/2020 16:49

I agree with the pp who said you need an antiperspirant.

I use Mitchum roll on every morning, which works perfectly most of the time, then top up with Mitchum spray if it's really hot and I start to feel clammy. Also, I make sure it's completely dry before I get dressed.

butterpuffed · 28/05/2020 16:50

Driclor is really good . I know some people have problems with it stinging . I never have unless I shave a day before or after using it . It completely stops me sweating at all and only need to use it once a week. You can wash underarms normally in between applications , it doesn't stop Driclor working.

longhaulstress · 28/05/2020 16:50

Another vote for Mitchum roll on.

Tinkletwat · 28/05/2020 16:54

Don't know if anyone else finds that rotating antiperspirants works well for them? I seem to become immune to them after a couple of days so I have 4/5 on the go and use a different one each day.

Mnthrowaway20202 · 28/05/2020 16:55

Thanks

I think Dricolour is a bit scary as I’ve had contact dermatitis in this area in the past, so wouldn’t want to risk using something that may irritate my skin. I’ll definitely try the Mitchum roll on and report back!

Meant to add that driclor became unbearable for me, couldn't sleep due to the pain. Strange how some get on with it and others don't.

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/05/2020 16:56

If driclor stings put moisturiser on the area.

I use driclor Every other night and normal deodorant every day.

Mayhemmumma · 28/05/2020 16:58

Love driclor, totally transformed what I can wear in summer.
But if applied on same day as shaving its unbearable! Ouch!
(Also have contact dermatitis and no issues with it)

Mnthrowaway20202 · 28/05/2020 16:58

@Tinkletwat I feel like that could be what’s happening here actually. Mitchum (stick) worked perfectly for about a year, then I experienced dampness so switched to Sure Maximum - now the same thing has happened!

I use Mitchum too.Powder Fresh

SumAndSubstance · 29/05/2020 18:20

I use Mitchum too, but I find it a great deodorant more than a great antiperspirant.

livingit38 · 29/05/2020 18:27

I use Mitchum 48hr a stick or roll on is always better as well :) happy smells

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 29/05/2020 18:49

I use Triple Dry at night, wash it off in the morning and wear nothing in the day. It seems wrong wearing no deodorant in the day but it works.

Ginandbearit1 · 29/05/2020 19:14

I like the Sure Maximum one you use better than Mitchum, but recently switched to the Dove Maximum cream which leaves me dry and smells lovely (about £5 a bottle too).

TheGriffle · 29/05/2020 19:17

I dry my armpits with the cool hairdryer setting, use the fragrance free Mitchum roll on, dry it with the cool setting hairdryer then spray dove deodorant over than. Seems to work ok.

MotherofKitties · 29/05/2020 19:58

I swear by Anhydrol Forte.

You have to get it over the counter (no prescription needed) and it stings like hell shortly after putting it on (a slow burn as you have to put it on before you go to bed - strictly armpits only!) but the following day you won't sweat at all.

I used this from a recommendation as I was constantly getting sweat patches and it made me self conscious and it was getting me down. Now I only need to use it maybe once a month and it's changed my life. Sounds dramatic, but it's true. Don't need to worry about what colour top/dress I wear anymore Smile

PinkDaydreams · 29/05/2020 20:31

Yes yes to becoming immune to them! I used to use Mitchum roll on then changed to spray but found it stopped working.
I’ve used Driclor but found that I get a really sweaty back!! Blush I’ve read others saying the same thing, the sweat works it’s way out of a different place instead! Make sure you’re bone dry before applying, it stings otherwise.
I’m now using Mens sure spray but am still finding myself sweating and smelling.
When I shower, I wash under my arms with hibiscrub which I have found very effective in getting rid of body odour.

Bananaman123 · 29/05/2020 20:40

Triple dry roll on is great

ChangeMeAlready · 29/05/2020 20:44

AMWAY roll-on. So happy I found it and have no sweaty armpits anymore. Amway is hated MLM, but that is a product I have used for more than 10y now. Do not buy anything else, except, window cleaner and those roll-ons.
