Dressing hip shelves

Attached photo isnt me, but is my basic shape. I'm on a diet and the image is pretty much my goal.

I've always hated my shape. Nothing sits right, and all fat accumulates around the high hip. I'm an a-cup, and 5 foot 5. Arms and legs are slimmish (compared to the mid-section).

Anyone else got this shape? How do you style yourself?

I live in dresses, but I'm bored of my style. I'm doing a lockdown makeover, but I'm not going to buy any clothes until I get to target (August hopefully).

@11stoneTess I think a French tuck may work if you just tuck the front of the shirt in and leave the sides out.

I remeasured and its the same result, 34c. Maybe it doesnt work when there is a low volume.

Need to wait for weightloss and shops anyway.

It definitely still works for small boobs, as I said I was a 34AA via the M&S method. Try one of your 34 bands on backwards, you should just be able to fit two fingers under the band. Ideally on the loosest setting but if they're a bit worn you might need to use a tighter setting.

Oh!!! I have these hips!!! I always thought I was abnormally shaped! I tend to wear dresses nipped in at the waist (I have a good waist even though currently fat) or high waisted skinny fit trousers with longer, looser tops. Some great ideas on this thread though and I now feel less abnormal :D

Tulip dresses also work for our shape. Nip in the waist and skim over the hips

None of my bra's are new, but tried backwards on the tightest setting I could fit a fist in between when stretched. Wore it on the tightest fitting for the rest of the day and I have indents where the band was.

@ambereeree I used to have a lovely pink tulip dress somewhere .... I'll see if I can find it. Good idea.

Welcome KatnissK. There are more of us than I expected. Smile

Op the fact that you could fit a fist in shows that the band is too big. The fact that it feels tight on is because you need a larger cup size. I know I know, it sounds crazy but it happened to me too. I was wearing a 36 c my whole life and then after reading these threads I realised I was a 32e. So comfy and not too tight. Honestly although at the time I thought it was madness

You are supposed to wear your bra on the loosest band setting. That way as it stretches over time you can pull it in a notch, then another.

I just did it on the tighest as the bra isnt new.

There is already space in the cup so larger sounds bizzare. Suppose it is pointless until I get to goal weight anyway. A better chest might help balance my hips a little as well.

I tried on nearly everything I won last night (bit bored!) and tea dresses seem to be flattering. Seems I have quite a collection of those.

Trouser wise, I have some straighleg zara ones that sit reasonably well. Tops, strangely I seem to prefer ones that stop at the hip. I dont own any long ones. Will try longer ones when we can.

I must have gotten rid of my tulip dress, cant find it anywhere.
