Dr. Marten's boots for 13 YO DD

Hi. My DD has asked for Dr Marten's boots for her birthday. She wants the classic ones, 1490 I think? I have never worn Dr Martins but always hear people talk about how painful they are to begin with. Do you think they're suitable for a child? They're not cheap but I think she'll be able to wear them for a long time. Does anyone know where to get online for the best price? DD's feet are size 5.

I got my dd these ones when she asked for docs the Christmas she was 13. I was worried she might not think they were 'authentic' but 1) They were closer to my price bracket 2) I remember how painful breaking in docs is and these are soft 3) the zips are genius and everyone adnires them. She loves them 2 years later and wears them all the time. It just depends if you think your dd will be amenable.

I think those are great actually ScrapThatThen, thank you so much. I didn't realise they did those. I'm going to see if I can find them cheaper anywhere but if not, I think you have found me 'the ones'. Thank you!

I wonder if your dd's style is similar to mine's (not at all girly) and if so, would you recommend anywhere in particular for clothes, sp jackets?

They are one of the best things you can put kids feet in, recommended by DS and DDs physio . Get "soft" leather DrMs if youre worried, ones like the above, the stitched flower patterns ones or the plain purple. Some of the printed patterned ones can be a little stiffer.

I wore my first pair of Dr Ms in actually at Disneyland Paris(I was a late convert) . Had no problem at all but i tend to double sock. DD sometimes needs an odd blister plaster wearing in but she pretty much refuses to double sock even to begin with.

We online from Dr Martens Direct or Amazon. In person from schuh or our independent. The smaller sizes often come out really good value in the sale direct and schuh.

I've also been able to sell them on easily for a worthwhile price after.

She tends to go with ASOS, H&M, New Look really, nothing amazingly cool! The current hunt is for 'the oversize denim jacket' so that may be the current thing.
