Bumpy legs

I’ve always had these on the backs of my thighs. Now they’re on the inside of my knees. They’re not sore or itchy. But just feel bumpy and rough. If I pick them, it’s like a tiny tiny hair is inside. I have quite fair/fine body hair.
How can I get shut of these for good? I hate them!

It’s keratosis Pilaris

Solution I believe is salucilyc acid?

Ponks · 26/05/2020 14:27

Try Ameliorate transforming body lotion, I had similar bumps on my arms and it got rid of them

Dagnamit · 26/05/2020 14:47

Thank you!! I googled treatments for it and I ordered some of the ameliorate scrub and moisturiser. So I’m glad you’ve recommended it.

Yes I've got this bastard stuff on the backs of my thighs, so annoying and I can't help picking at it when I'm sat on the loo. Sorry, too much info. Have started experimenting with salicylic acid but have yet to actually stick to doing it regularly enough. @Ponks, I've seen the stuff you've mentioned advised on here before, it's worth getting then? I assume you have to stick to using it regularly otherwise the bumps will probably come back?

Ponks · 26/05/2020 15:52

Definitely worth getting, I got a sample in an advent calendar a few years ago and didn't expect it to do anything but it got rid of the bumpy arm skin pretty quickly, so I've carried on with it. Also seen a difference on back of my thighs. I probably use it once or twice a week now after a shower.
The Ameliorate website often has 20% off , also Look Fantastic often include it in their offers, don't think I've ever paid full price.

Brill thank you, have ordered a trial size set with decent 20% off.

I have this problem too. Which is better, the lotion or the soap?

thisenglishlife · 26/05/2020 20:18

You need laser or IPL hair removal (one that is for fair hair). It's a follicle related issue, so that is the only lasting treatment.

Acids will help if used regularly.

I can't stand the ameliorate body lotion it smells funny to me. Sorry. I use palmers cocoa butter formula and my skin feels amazing now.

MerryDeath · 26/05/2020 21:01

i've got this. the only cure i've found is pregnancy as my leg hair stops growing during.

i do see improvement with (a) the ordinary glycolic acid (b) cerave SA products.

ameliorate did nothing for me or anything else i've tried and i've tried A LOT. I'm planning on getting laser hair removal once clinics are open.

thisenglishlife · 26/05/2020 21:26

Do you have brown or black body hair and fair to lightish skin @MerryDeath ? Philips Lumea works on this, it's a home device.

MerryDeath · 26/05/2020 22:05

i do and i have one @thisenglishlife but i don't think my hair is dark enough on my legs (worked a treat on my monobrow so worth it for that alone!) so i've found a salon near me that has some super duper laser that can (supposedly) do not the very darkest hair or the very palest skin. I'm a little sceptical because i have been turned away from another clinic who said i wasn't fair/dark enough for their laser.

in all fairness to the lumea i am also extremely lazy and inconsistent in my hair removal and have been pregnant thus practically prepubescent for probably half of the time i've had it.

AlannaOfTrebond · 27/05/2020 09:57

I always had the same as well as really obvious kp on my arms.

I used to use Ameliorate, but only in the winter as you shouldn't have any sun exposure for a week after use.

I've found that Japanese wash cloths have been just as effective on my arms and legs with no risk in the sun and much cheaper than Ameliorate too.

Those ones you can get on Amazon, @AlannaOfTrebond?
