Greys starting to come through

I’m mid-30s and for the past year or so I’ve had some greys hairs and there are some particularly noticeable at the front of my head when my hair is up.

My DH thinks I should pull them out as they come through. My DM would say don’t do that as more will come through but that’s got to be an old wives’ tale.

So what do you do?

There are not enough to dye. I don’t mind the odd white hair but they are quite coarse and stick up at the front and look awful so I’d like to get rid of those.

Depends on your hair colour but I have bleach highlights added with my normal blonde ones so you can't see the difference between those and the grey/white ones. A friend of mine pulls them out but I have so many now in my 40's I'd end up half bald if I did that!

Black hair!

Pulling them out only works when you only have a few.

I’m 40 and started the pulling them out thing a couple of years ago when there were only a few- wish I hadn’t now as inevitably you end up with too many to pull out and you then also have a bunch of short wiry grey hairs which stick up really noticeably

SomeBunnyovertheRainbow · 25/05/2020 08:53

Mine feel wiry and stick up noticeably at the front. Maybe I should trim them down to my scalp Hmm

I know either way I’ll end up with more.

At the moment there are two on one side that are bothering me

You can damage follicles though pulling them out so I’m leaving mine alone.

SomeBunnyovertheRainbow · 25/05/2020 11:55

But what does damaging follicles mean? Just that they won’t come back? Grin

Women’s hair thins out at menopause unless you’re very lucky. Are you feeling lucky?.

You need all the hair you can get on your head.

It’s a pity leg hairs don’t respond the same but that’s the unfairness of life in a nutshell.

SomeBunnyovertheRainbow · 25/05/2020 12:42

Oh I see what you mean @Fluffycloudland77

I’m just getting to grips with grey hair, hadnt though about thinning hair, though I do seem to be losing a lot at the moment when I wash it (but that’s another story)

I just think it’s better to either live with it or dye it than risk losing volume

SomeBunnyovertheRainbow · 25/05/2020 14:34

Yeah you’re probably right @Fluffycloudland77

I don’t think it’s enough to dye but to be fair we are home a lot at the moment so I could maybe just use a touch up product for when I’m bothered about it showing

I might see what I can get
