I really like the look of his stuff and have wanted a necklace from him for years, I now have some money to spend but have seen other similar cheaper jewellers such as lily Blanche. Is it worth paying the extra money or can anyone recommend something different?

Well totally by fluke I saw that John Lewis had them recently (ie this year, pre lockdown) in one of their pricematch offers so I got a necklace with 20% off. Really pleased with it, but I’m afraid I can’t help as to how others compare. But if you do decide to get one, it might be worth keeping an eye on JLewis.

I love my silver gilt bee and think the naturalism and detail is better than any other mid-range jewellery I've seen - but beware the gilt does wear off eventually. I had to replace the chain for this reason but the bee itself is still ok after a few years. They offer to repair - presumably re-gild - but not transparent on what that costs.

I've had my bee for ten years. I don't wear it as much as I did when I first got it, but it still looks good, the gold plate hasn't worn off.

Monsterjam · 24/05/2020 17:21

I have a bee and a few other bits. I agree the detailing on the jewellery makes them look much better quality than any similar priced makes.
I have worn my Bee consistency for 5 yrs and it looks as good as new now

I was given an initial necklace for Christmas and have not taken it off. I think the detail is lovely and quality is very good.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 24/05/2020 17:24

I do like the designs a lot, have a few pieces and the detail is great. Having said that, the gilt does wear off very quickly (for me) and it’s kind of annoying given the prices.
I went to a sample sale once, the prices were great but I think they are few and far between.

I love my bee
I wear it a lot

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/05/2020 17:48

I got a feather half price. It's lovely, but very flimsy and definitely wouldn't have been worth the full price.

Dingdong99 · 24/05/2020 22:25

I'm wearing a necklace of his that I've had for 8 years. Def good quality and usual, I have lots of his stuff, love it

AsCoolAsLangCleg · 24/05/2020 22:47

Amanda Coleman is similarly nature-inspired and a bit cheaper

TheWashingMachine · 24/05/2020 22:57

No, not worth the cash, I got some silver earring about 13 years ago, they were very poor quality and tarnished dreadfully.

Sickoffamilydrama · 24/05/2020 23:25

Came across this woman's website not sure her quality but it looks amazing and she does similar. In fact some of the clay ones are beautiful.

I got the bee when they were first popular. The gold rubbed off the underneath and it started leaving a grubby mark if I was wearing a light coloured top. I did wear it daily for probably 3 years though. I also have a tiny bird pendant that started off gold and is now silver. The chain snapped on this one too.
They are OK but I think there is probably better-made stuff available for similar prices.

Thank you, I’m not sure I want to part with £165 for something that may tarnish. I will look at some alternatives, thank you.
