Going grey during lockdown. What will my new new make up and wardrobe look like?

In my 50s and using lockdown as an opportunity to ditch the dye and go grey. Been dyeing my darkish brown hair since I was 20. Now realise it was great hair and didn't the benefit of dye Sad

It's still fairly thick and from the inch or so that's grown out looks like it's going to be whiteish rather than the darker grey I hoped it might be. My skin is fairly pale and with my current dark brown hair I wear a touch of red lipstick and look good in bright colours.

I haven't a clue what my makeup will look like when grey or what colour clothes will suit and enhance my new colouring. Don't want to look drab and washed out Confused

Anyone been through this and can guide me? Or is less clueless than me about how to make my hair transformation work for me?

You’ll find that the same colours will suit you as it’s your skin colour that is the thing. I did the colour course at HOC & the consultant said that too. My hair is completely white, no grey even, started to go white in my late teens, often used to get asked where I got it bleached so platinum!

Thats interesting Darklane - had notice lot of women with grey hair wear purple well and had assumed there was a formula for pulling off the grey and classy look Grin

I thought I read skin tone changes as you get older in line with the colour of your hair. So I’d have thought your wardrobe and make up would have had to change appropriately.
I’ve carried on as as soon as my roots are an inch or an inch and a half I feel drab and look awful. I once lightened my hair thinking I’d attempt to fade it away eventually but it made me look old and tired.I've mid brown sort of hair (obvs not really) and I like wearing oranges and reds and greens. I doubt they’d enhance grey hair.
Grey hair can look wonderful on some people but I think they’re possibly in the minority.

I went grey a few years ago and it does change the colours that suit you in my view I've gone a very light silver and black and dusky pinks and blues now look really good as do jewel greens and blues. Yellow doesn't look good any more though as it reflects on my hair. Red lipstick also looks good again

I went grey and nothing suited me. I looked drab and tired and older than my years. It looked absolutely dreadful and in the end I started dyeing again and wearing my warm autumn colours.
