Lost Stock

Just ordering myself a box from this outfit:

loststock.co/

No idea when it will arrive but I thought it looked good, ordered one for DH too (in "dark" and "plain", he's a boring sod).

I’m usually an all in black type @Squiz81 and i got a LS box to push me out of my comfort zone. I think it’s been safely done 😂😂😂 I’m not sure if it was on here or on the other group but someone posted the shorter striped top but then I saw it on the girl who tried it on and it didn’t look too bad lengthwise either. All of the sort of things I’ve seen so far is the sort of stuff I’d overlook in a shop and then see someone else wearing later and kick myself 😂😂😂

NotJustACigar · 04/08/2020 13:16

I love what everyone has posted so far - wonder if they'll do this with autumn clothes now or will they not have been produced this year.

RainbowRaine · 04/08/2020 13:45

I ordered mine 10/07 so I have a while to wait still.

Pixie2015 · 05/08/2020 19:03

Can’t wait for mine to arrive, think the long wait has made it more interesting- love the animal print dress 👗

RubyUna · 08/08/2020 14:13

I’ve just received my Lost box parcels and oh dear what an awful disappointment. Poor items, 4 of 6 items unusable and almost all identical. Absolutely not anything like the value they suggested. I’m just hoping the donation has gone to a good place

SockYarn · 08/08/2020 14:18

Mine's going to be a while yet. I am also in the swap FB group and have seen most of the items I think!

I wouldn't wear anything sleeveless, so really hope I don;t get vest tops or they'll be swapped. I love the giraffe dress, and the other dress someone posted which was also more flouncy and leopard-print like? Not keen on the slip dress or spot dress I have seen this morning - again sleeveless.

There is also the option for a winter box but order now and goodness knows when it will arrive. I ordered mine on 31st May (and one for teen DD) - almost 10 weeks ago - and nothing. I'm looking at it as a charitable donation with the added bonus of clothes which I may or may not like.

SockYarn · 08/08/2020 14:20

Also agree about pushing you out of your comfort zone - I saw a linen dress with leaf print and my immediate thought was it was hideous, then saw someone wearing it and it's actually OK. Would be great for holidays. If they ever happen again.

Cornishmumofone · 08/08/2020 14:20

@RubyUna could you share photos of what you've received?

SockYarn · 08/08/2020 14:22

What did you get, @RubyUna?

RubyUna · 08/08/2020 14:44

I ordered two boxes 1 for myself and 1 for my daughter . Received 2 stripes tops,1 edged in flowers, necks so small it’s hard to put it on( I have a small head), very short in the body too, a giraffe print dress which is nice but not with what was suggested. Daughters box had exactly the same two striped tops plus another striped top with ruffles which is ok. The striped tops aren’t the best and are in lots of the promo photos. I’m just so disappointed,I’ll try to add photos.

RubyUna · 08/08/2020 14:53

Sorry I’m just not seeing how to add photos on here

RubyUna · 08/08/2020 15:01

My items are on the FB page,1 white striped T-shirt, the other is same but with a tie in front and floral edging, the giraffe dress (which I saw with a belt and looks even better that way) . Daughters 3 T-shirt is the blue striped frilly linen look item. But quality definitely not worth £35 never mind £70 so hopefully money is being put to good use as it was a gamble

SockYarn · 08/08/2020 15:49

Get on the FB group and swap, @RubyUna. Someone will snap up the giraffe dress for sure.

Buggedandconfused · 08/08/2020 16:11

I’m really glad this is for charity, but the clothes everyone got are the same pretty much - so the choosing your style part was pointless. The quality looks about right for the price, kind of New Look or Primark sale rail.

SockYarn · 08/08/2020 16:16

It will be interesting to see what DD and I get. I chose 41-50 age range, bright patterns. She chose 18-25 age range or similar, plain neutrals. We should get two completely different sets of clothes, but i'm not so sure going by the photos on the FB group.

And if one thing's for sure it's that a teenage girl would not be seen DEAD in the same clothes as her mum.

RubyUna · 08/08/2020 19:18

That’s exactly what my daughter saidSmile

drspouse · 08/08/2020 19:50

Husband's came today, he's surprised me by liking something I'd never have thought of for him.
Mine says delivered but only one came. I've contacted them to ask.

I work in this industry and a few things sprung to mind when I placed my order- which have all been subsequently true...

  1. No way can time f she be as stated - sea freight is most cost effective option but takes 6 weeks from BD with customs, so before clearances total mail etc you be at at least 8 weeks before any sorting
  2. air freight - is currently at its highest ever cost- so anything AF defeats objective of charity. Or increases time line- see above
  3. When they promised boxes they were used to clothing- it doubles your cost
  4. The size and style pref is a timely exercise- unless a proposition were pre sorted It’s a big time and cost exercise
  5. Items not pre made would be I. Held fabric format and therefore lost cost effective option is simple shapes because it’s most time and cost effective- not what was ordered by chains necessarily...

It’s a fantastic intitive but I think needs some tweaking...

greyinganddecaying · 08/08/2020 21:03

My parcel arrived. It was all sleeveless (I don't wear sleeveless without a jumper over). It was light colours -I asked for dark. It includes a dress - I don't wear dresses, I thought this was tops only.

There's no styling that can make these clothes work for me sadly

drspouse · 08/08/2020 21:05

Don't worry, someone will swap for yours.

🤞🤞🤞 hope so!
GoshHashana · 08/08/2020 21:18

So glad I didn't get sucked into this. The clothes are hideous!

The giraffe dress seems popular so I reckon you will get a swap, or sale (have you joined the lost stock selling page on Facebook?)

I was trying to suss out where mine stuff was headed originally, the Aztec top has the remnants of a label in The neck, the label was black, I’m thinking it might be dorothy Perkins.

poptypingchef · 08/08/2020 23:57

My husband’s bag turned up today and he loves it. Really looking forward to seeing mine now as I’ve loved a lot of the way people have styled theirs. I don’t do sleeveless either but since seeing the layers people have done it’s completely changed my mind.

In the last few days I’ve seen so many similar items on top shop etc ( red version of the blue checked top) so I wonder if that was meant for them or a similar retailer.

YourObedientServant · 09/08/2020 14:06

I'm not overly pleased I have to say. My parcel had the lilac polka dot dress, tie dye vest and striped top. Unfortunately one of the tops is the wrong size! None of it is my style.

DH's parcel was marginally better but still not really things he'll wear. Oh well, was worth a punt and supports a charity but probably won't be doing that again.
