Summer office shoes

We have a pretty strict dress code at work:

No open toes
No bare legs
No trainers
No bare shoulders
No tight clothing
Smart casual

I am really struggling with summer workwear, particularly shoes.

I would love to wear long dresses but would generally wear them with trainers. Same for everything really, my go to would be sandals or trainers/pumps.

I have quite muscular legs and very high arches so I struggle with ballet flats as somehow they look out of proportion and actually never bloody fit. I can't seem to find anything lightweight for the summer.

Help please!

Are you actually going to be in the office over the summer?

In past years I have commuted in birkies or flip flops and changed into normal office shoes at work. With office air con normal closed shoes are fine once there.

Wedge espadrilles. There are a lot around this season

eurochick Never been out of the office unfortunately. I'm a key worker. We have no aircon. Our office is like a sweat box.

I'll have a look at the espadrilles thanks although I'm not sure they'd be classed as appropriate. I work in a men's prison so have to be careful with what we wear.

Agree with pp, wedge espadrille. OP, the wedge is important because it elevates them from scruffy beach shoe to work appropriate. You can get pretty low ones.

Or, in a similar vein, a cork sole would be summery. I'd wear either with slim or tapered ankle length trousers, maybe linen, and a linen t-shirt.

Mules?
I wear them alot in the summer for work. You can easily slip them off when you're sitting at a desk. There's lots around this summer

How about Flitflop, the Casa loafer is nice if you can find a colour you like, or they do some ballet flats that have a thicker sole so may work.

Leather T-bars with a lower heel

Nice and airy like sandles but toes are covered

oohnicevase · 22/05/2020 10:18

No bare legs!!! So you aren't allowed to wear a midi dress ffs!! 🙄

Do you not have a uniform or are you admin in the prison?
