Where to get summer dress / tunics size 20/22?

My clothes have "shrunk" again! I need to get some every day clothes as I'm fast running out of stuff to wear!

I have a massive tummy so I can't do waists or anything that ends before tunic length. V necks / buttons suit me.

Tunics or short dresses with capri pants - 3/4 jeans or even leggings work well with my shape (don't give a stuff if leggings are a S&B faux pas! It suits my shape) or knee length dresses with no waist. Shirt dresses work for me too (but not denim).

I'm looking for everyday things - does anyone remember the Mumsnet "school run dress"? Not that I'm doing school runs right now, but the idea IIRC was it's an everyday dress you can chuck on to leave the house to pick the kids up. That's what I need.

I can usually find something I like in Monsoon, but not this time. Can anyone recommend somewhere for nice tunic tops / day dresses?

Any good sales on?

Cheers :)

Looked at Boden. Feeling uninspired.

If I was on the high street I'd pop into Next but I find their website such a pain to use I'm not sure I have the patience!

H&M have some amazing ones right now - kaftans and tunics perfect for summer

Evans, or Dorothy Perkins or New Look plus size.
Evans are expensive but often have offers on.

GrimDamnFanjo · 22/05/2020 00:53

La Redoute have a good range of sizes. Check out Seasalt tunics on eBay too.

DoorbellsSleighbellsSchnitzel · 22/05/2020 01:00

Boden or Seasalt are my go-to for pretty much everything and I tend to wear the stuff you're describing.

EBearhug · 22/05/2020 01:17

Sainsbury's can have good stuff. 100% cotton and POCKETS! Haven't looked at their current stuff, though, what with hardly ever going out.

Mistymonday · 22/05/2020 06:13

It’s not cheap but my latest obsession is with Thought stuff as it can be quite flattering and is soft. Also a fan of fatface.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 22/05/2020 06:18

I got this from Dorothy Perkins, and I'm a size 20. Maxi dresses have never looked good on me but but this one is lovely and flattering. I wore it to work yesterday and got lots of compliments. I've now ordered it in black and khaki.

I like the maxi dress.

I would look at Seasalt, Boden, Next, Monsoon. Mantaray at Debenhams can be good - I have a couple of pretty and flattering tunics from there. Yumi is worth a look.

Someone recommended Popsy to me, but it’s all polyester and the dresses all seem to be high waisted (and not very flattering) on bigger women.

MrsSchadenfreude · 22/05/2020 06:47

Yumi currently have 60% off everything!

eleventy3isthemagicnumber · 22/05/2020 07:26

That dress is great ThisIsNotARealAvo, thanks for the suggestion - but sadly not for me as it has a waist.

I can't emphasise enough how round I am! People offer me seats on trains as they think I'm heavily pregnant!

A line / empire line suits me. Anything with any kind of waist is a no go. If it's just a belt I can take it off of course but if it's cut with a waist it accentuates my massive tummy.

Think I might take a leaf out of your book though - this search is proving difficult, when I do find something I like I may well buy 3!

Sainsburys. They also do cotton not polyester which is what you want in the heat.

I'm the same shape. I get most of my clothes from ebay. The trick is to find someone selling something you like in your size then follow them. I've got a lot of designer pieces that way. I never go over £30. Brands to look for are:
Rundholz
Privatsachen
Oska
Hebbeding
Sahara
Kin (a John Lewis brand)
Masai
Elemente Clemente

Just before lockdown I got some dresses and tunic length tops from M&S and Next so I'd suggest having a look. I also really like Seasalt. Like you, I'm all tummy, so I need things to sit at bum length or lower!

LesLavandes · 22/05/2020 09:15

M&S

eleventy3isthemagicnumber · 22/05/2020 21:27

Right, I'm getting somewhere! Thanks for the ebay nudge. I've bid on a load of things.

Just won this for £12 incl p+p which I'm pleased about!

(In the picture it looks like it has a waist but actually it's got ties at the sides which have been pulled back for the pic.)

There are a few here m.patra.com/category/women-dresses, even those with waists are loose . I'm an 18 and the xl is a perfect fit. They're also well made so well worth the price, especially if you can get something in the sale.
